ISU vs Baylor Post Game Thread

Brackins impressed the hell out of me. that being said I think he came in shooting 22% from three. He was the reason the game was close.

If ya'll had any guards to take some pressure off, we very well could have lost.

Diante had 7 assists but 6 turnovers. He reminds me too much of Mike Taylor as far as his decision thinking goes. His turnovers seem to come at the worst times (like the one at the end of the first half). I do agree that we don't have much choice though. Brian Peterson doesn't seem to play well against good competition. Baylor has 5 guards that are better than any of our guards. How does that happen?

Haluska is garbage 0-24 on 3's, peterson shouldn't be starting, and why didnt brackins get the ball until late in the 2nd half. Isu shouldve won that game.

I was suprised at how much CoJO played down the stretch.

I actually thought this could have been a good move, as CJ can pull out big slow guys to the perimeter and create a mismatch. That didn't work out so well today, but creating a mismatch is good coaching.

I was suprised at how much CoJO played down the stretch. I think Rahshon sometimes just needs to be a little more selfish and demand the ball when we're throwing up crazy shots our really getting out of control like we where midway through the second half.
I think Brackins will be Rookie and Player of the week in the Big 12. That was just a dominant performance from nevernever land. Maybe he shoud play the 2! jk

I agree with everything you said! Rahshon has an issue with being too unselfish...it's very annoying. Especially when everyone else on the team has no problem with it. CJ should not have been in the game at crunch time. Horrible decision by Coach Mac.

Craig shot the ball well, but still didn't rebound and had a ton of to's.

I think Petey is slow, but he still took care of the ball better than DG. DG is EXACTLY like Mike T, but he can't shoot. Coach needs to tell him to settle down and not force things so much.

So why did he wait until the end of the game to do this if it was such a good idea?

What's most disappointing about the loss is all of the mental mistakes in key times of the game. Brackins and Garrett were the main culprits of this, and we have to remember that they were both playing in their first conference game and haven't really been in hostile environments.

The good thing is that this will only get better, as I believe Mac is a great teacher, and will certainly be working on decision making in the film room.

What was it...like 3 years ago we were insanely good in the guard court and horrible with big men. Dang....how times change.

I can't speak for Mac, but possibly he saw how successful Brackins was at pulling their slow big guys out to the perimeter, and decided to put another option of this out there if the BU big guys started getting a clue and covering Brackins.

I just don't see how it's a good idea to put a kid in the game at crunch time who has barely played the entire game, and take two of your starters (and seniors who have been in this position before) out.

Those two starters werent making a difference in the game. Why not throw someone in and see what happens. The momentum was all Baylors at that point.

That's a good point, but we don't know if Rahshon and Jiri were gassed at that point or what. Not saying I'm right and you're wrong, just saying we don't know what the circumstances were.

Hands down turnovers killed us. And while we SORELY miss not having consistent PG play, you can't pin it all on then. Both Wes and Brackins had some key TO's down the stretch. At one point I think we had at least seven or eight consecutive posessions that ended in a tunrover.

Jiri and Rahshon sat for a long time, so I doubt they were gassed.
