Yes a big upgrade from the high school quality we had before. Haven't seen the plans for new facility but most other teams in conference play in STADIUMS. Iowa has better facility than us but would probably be at bottom of our conference.

Well the ISU girls finished up 2-22 in conference this year. How does this head coach still have a job?
The softball team uses the Berg so the no indoor facility argument is moot. I assume they'll continue to do so after the football facility is done as well.
I heard the coaches didn't even talk at the end of the year banquet. Not even a single "thank you" to the seniors. If the coaches aren't invested and willing to show thanks to the players, what are they to expect from the players?
These coaches are such jokes it is amazing they even have jobs still. I went to a dozen or so games this year and the defense is junior high bad. They throw the players under the bus continuously and don't work with them. They need to be gone. Period.
Just made it official that the pitching coach is retiring. What they didn't say is he told the team a month or so ago after he got so mad at the head coach he couldn't take it anymore
Perhaps the AD is waiting to finalize details for the new facilities in order to have something for potential new coaches to look at.
The trend in conference wins over the last four seasons is not encouraging...7...4...3...2...

Their fielding is bad but that's 90% on the coaches. Have constructive practices where you don't waste so much time and put work in on fielding. It's so painfully obvious that they don't. The coaches don't work with the players at all and their is no development.
I say as long as we have JP, we might as well start from scratch. He can make something out of nothing, so he will do that to our SB program. Although I d rather have the FB and BB programs in full throttle before we switch attention to the SB program.
Not sure softball requires a "switch" of attention at all. In fact, one could argue that football and basketball are as stable (from the AD's perspective) as they have been since JP got here. Now is the perfect time to look at the department's health as a whole and I think the Track/soccer/softball facility out by towers proves that I'm not totally wrong.
I went to my first ever ISU SB game the other weekend when they played ranked Mizzou who just happens to have one of the best pitchers in the country that grew up just down the road from Ames: Chelsea Thomas of Plesantville. Mizzou pretty much had the game in the bag by the 2nd inning in the Friday game and already started to clear the bench. ISU's pitching was noticeably worse, even Mizzou's freshman backup that wound up pitching the rest of the weekend was better than any pitcher ISU put in the game. Granted Mizzou is a program that has college world series aspirations most seasons but just based on what I saw a lot of the bench players for Mizzou would probably beat out most of ISU's starters.
Again, I don't follow ISU softball nor pay any attention to it but from the small sample size I have seen they have a LONG ways to go if they want to compete against good D1 programs. They get a new complex next season so maybe that helps recruiting a little because the SW athletics complex is a far cry from being impressive. Probably have seen little league fields in the Des Moines area that are better.

I didn't say stable, I said "full throttle" if your stable is full throttle, than we've hit the ceiling. I'm pretty sure the softball team has zero attention on it.
