Well, here we go. Another rule change that hurts the good defense teams and helps the teams that count on good offense. More scoring always seems to be the goal. Plus, this will still be highly subjective. When is a foot "planted?" Refs will err on the side of a block. ISU would have lost over half of their charge calls last year under this new rule proposal.

good think Kunc has graduated. If what you say is true, I don't like it. Will be interesting if it affects the way TJ coaches his defense at all?

Eh, there's a difference between good defense and a secondary defender sliding under a guy that's already on his way up. Block/charge is broken in the college game and I think this is a good step towards fixing that.

The game let Coach K determine that a secondary defender showing up way late and taking a shoulder in the chest was 'good defense' and it's hurt flow ever since. Next step has to be hands off cutters regardless of whether or not Izzo throws a fit about it.

Didn't see any indication that the new rule applies to secondary defender.

One of the worst things about basketball is watching an offensive player just plow into people down the lane and getting block calls every time. That will only happen more now IMO.

Guys just living on the FT line all night and tons of players in foul trouble and spending the majority of the game riding the pine.

I’d rather see the best players play instead of being in foul trouble, and I’d rather watch skilled moves and baskets versus watching FT’s all night.

If you put the two (foot plant vs position) far enough apart, the degree of accuracy will drop.

The point is to discourage defenders from trying to draw charges when they're out of position. It's a good change and should be taken further.
