He will be the 3rd Center on a team where one of the guys in front of him is good for 3 to 4 fouls a game. He will play. Probably not much but he will get minutes.

This. George has always struggled with fouls and XF was fouling machine last year. If Jones is eligible, he'll get spot minutes. Either that or TJ plays Kunc at the 5 in these cases.

I got this feeling Robert Jones will be a much more important piece than most originally thought. Seems like a great team guy that has a motor on both ends of the court. At the end of this up coming season I bet we have a product that we can be proud of again.

My initial impression from the first descriptions of him was that he was brought in to be a tone setter. You could really tell because the common trait in almost all recruiting thus far has been that they all have good motors. This guy will push the other guys, and IMO will get some minutes because he gets after it (sometimes to send a message to the other guys).

So what's going on with XF that we should all know about already? I guess I'm not in the loop? Is he not happy?

The rumor is that his work ethic is questionable. IDK if it's true or not, but I've heard rumblings dating back to last season.

Hard to judge him on much from last fall though, as some of it could have been from him being slowed with the foot issue. And then he was out. Seems very early to me, in that context, to make judgements about him. Either way, he's still very young, and none of that is abnormal for a young big guy.

About all I could deduce from his brief play last year was he couldn't handle big loads down on the block.

You're not wrong, but I'm only repeating what I was told. I don't think really have anything to do with his foot, but rather (speculation on my part) a byproduct of being a big fish from a small pond where his physical gifts made life pretty easy for him.

I hope TJ can help him maximize his potential because he has all the physical tools to be quite successful and make a LOT of money.

Green will do wonders for Foster.

If heard he came in expecting to go Pro early and has already realized it’s not as likely as he expected. You’d think that would make him want to work harder.

He may never be a pro if he doesn't put in the effort. Nothing comes easy.

As Garza could tell him! Be player of the year and still only get drafted 52nd! Nothing is gave to you it all has to be earned!

You guys have no idea how lucky you are to have that guy. He's a phenomenal basketball coach.

Oh, we know. Thank you for letting us have him.

Green is easily the best assistant we've had since TJ -- and that is counting TJ as more of a recruiter during his tenure in Ames and less of a teacher of the game like Green obviously is.

(Not that Green is a poor recruiter -- he's great at that, too.)

I can't remember the last assistant we had who is as good of a coach on the court.

You haven't. If his wife wasn't running an incredibly successful business he would have done the things needed to move up the line 15 years ago and would be a very successful head coach somewhere.

I suspect with the kids gone now that that is the next step for him as soon as this thing turns around.
