ISU looking into incident that involves Sims

We better do a good cover up job on this. From what I'm hearing, it sounds like a squawk style coverup was in the makings. Only that the 'victim' wasn't nearly as interested in sweeping this under the rug, or as interested as our coaches were.

Where did you hear this? BTW, those voices you hear in your head probably shouldn't count as reliable sources.

Unless you have proven facts, you just did a first class slander job on the coaching staff...

Memo to those who think this only happens in Iowa City. Coaches look out for their players at every school, and every school has players that get into trouble.......

Are you trying to compare this to a gang rape? :wideeyed:

Okay - so lets be real....

The facts are:
Credit Card reported stolen last saturday and is used - illegally.
Warrant served on Sims residence - suspected items found (prob card and charged items).
name on card is a girl, last picture i saw, David looks nothing like a girl!!!
From info on this site - Sims roommate is his girlfriend.
Now case is being reviewed by attorney to determine prosecutions next move...
To me, there's no way that his girlfriend is not involved either by herself or with his help.

Now not knowing anything of the situation beyond this - could it be:
Sims girlfriend stole and used the card without his knowledge?
How - Who obtained the card in the first place?
I cannot believe that the merchant didnt even look at the card - and if they did, would they have allowed a man to use the card with a womans name on it?

For me - i would still like to see our coach suspend him from all team activities pending the outcome of the investigation. This is what i'm always preaching in dispute against the UofI because the action they've typically taken has been to not do anything to the student athlete until the process has been completed.

I have two major problems with this mentality:
It downplays the players involvement - takes it out of the papers. Perfect example is Adrians delayed legal process...To me, to send a message to his team, that this action is not to be tolerated, let the player be suspended until its resolved - bet it would get resolved quickly if that were the case.
secondly, the players have to be held to a higher standard as representatives of the university. i fully agree with innocent until proven guilty - thats fine for freedom. But, to be involved in any way, shape, or form and not get penalized in any way is what develops the mentality that they're above the law mentality....

I truly hope David is cleared of all wrong doing, i doubt he will...but, we seriously need a playmaker on Defense and right now he is it....that said, if he's not cleared of wrong doing, CPR has to do the right thing for his "TEAM" and remove him from the team.

i hate to even have that conversation, by far and away one of my favorite players from last season...i was hoping to see his continued development and then get drafted....lets hope things are not as they seem.....

Irony, Hawkeye fan giving the ISU fan a face palm when he is talking about his college pushing something under the rug. Question for you, your DE was charged with assult, what was his suspension....irony, face palm.

I think when Deace described this (if Sims is guilty) as monumentally stupid, that was still an understatement.

KMAC is right. Sims needs to be suspended pending the outcome. If he's not guilty, then reinstate him and talk about being careful with the people he's involved with (which probably has extra meaning if his girlfriend did it). If he's guilty, then he needs to be gone.

girlfriend i believe. she is apparently not seen in any of the surveilance tape, but still under suspicion.

Well if this is true, and our boy David is seen on surveilance tape purchasing stuff with a girls cc, then its a done deal right....and how stupid for the clerk to allow a guy to purchase items with a womans cc.....he/she stupid stupid stupid too.

if so - thats a stupid move....that split second stupidity could cost him millions!!!! i just dont get these guys mentality, they think they slick, they wont get caught....didnt they see what happened with Dominique Douglas....

STUPID STUPID STUPID....

I can't think of the last time I was required to show my card at Foot Locker or WalMart or anything. The only place that makes me show it everytime is Strawberry Patch. If they don't look at the card or receipt (most cashiers don't), they'd never realize it's not his card.

Worst post in CF history?:yes::yes::yes::yes::yes::yes::yes::yes::yes::yes::yes:

Nope. But have gotten information from a pretty first-hand source.

Gotta love these "first hand" sources - everyone on this site seems to have at least one...

I agree with an above poster - If Sims is innocent, he needs to be vindicated, although he should receive a stern warning about who he hangs out with, with punishments to follow if he's ever caught in another situation due to the company he holds. If he's guilty, he needs to be punished severely, even if that means his removal from the team.

Go to any convenience store in Ames and pay at pump for gas. Who is gonna check the card? You don't even have to sign anything. The last in store purchase that I was even asked to give the card to cashier so she could look at signature was at Walmart and Office Max. Most times, I swipe the card, and places like Menards, the reciept prints out for the customer to take, without the clerk even touching it. It would be so easy to use a card that is not yours and most stores. This does not make it right, but does lead to a greater temptation, as you believe you will not be caught.
