ISU looking into incident that involves Sims

Read the post (definition)...my issue was not really with expecting more, but hope that the team/staff expects better than 4-5 wins. It's like stating water is wet, of course they hope for better. Weak "argument".

I'd contend donations today have very, very little impact on today's results. It's more about results down the road.

Butts in the seats can certainly have an impact (see ISU vs Baylor 2005), but Cyclone fans are gluttons for punishment - we generally show up and yell loud regardless if we expect 4-5 wins or 7-8.

Just saying.... if the teams set their goals high then why shouldn't the fans that support them? It is just the prolonged loser mentality that ISU fans cling to. At some point we have to break free from it rather then hang on to it like a security blanket. Expect less and you won't feel the let down if we don't succeed or you feel great if we do succeed. I can't subscribe to that mentality anymore. CPR doesn't want the Cyclone Nation to subscribe to that anymore. JP doesn't want the Cyclone Nation to subsribe to that anymore. We as a fanbase must raise the bar as well otherwise we will donate, attend games, etc... at a level that is less then what our staff and players deserve. It is all relative.

"Why expand the stadium until we win on a regular basis?"

"Why should I pay more for season tickets if the team can't win on a regular basis?"

"Why should I up my donation or join the NCC if we can't win on a regular basis?"

When our coaches talk about going "All in" I think they want the fans to return the favor as well.

You assume a fan that believes the team will win 4-5 games and a fan supporting the team 100% can't be the same exact person. A poor assumption.

As for JP, if he wanted the fans to have higher expectations from our athletic programs, he should have made a change at head MBB coach before Creighton did us a favor.

For a fan to say with complete and total certainty that there is absolutely no way that the Cyclones can win more then 4-5 games this coming season is selling this team way short. This team is most certainly capable of much more then that.

As for JP... I agree that he should have cut GMAC lose. I was praying for it. That being said it always seems like through his leadership that ISU comes out ahead.... Magically GMAC is taken off of our hands, Big XII looks like it is doomed and ISU will be left out in the cold yet somehow it stays together and we will end up getting a huge boost in TV revenue out of the deal, budget increases, stadium upgrades, etc.... You may not like how he handles every situation but the guy has the freaking magic touch because things always work out for the best. It is totally crazy but I will take it. :yes:

I haven't seen these rumors. But even so, I have mixed feeling on it.

If they are asking to get information so they know how to deal with a player - I really have no problem with it. Saying that with the assumption that the police might not be able to tell the AD much or everything during an investigation, and that such investigations can linger on and on (see Clayborn in Ia City, even Berryman here)

If they are trying to somehow smooth things over - that's a bad, bad idea.

The Rag had one two paragraph article. That was it. No quotes not nothing.

An Iowa player in trouble with the law is just as much news for the Des Moines Rag as and ISU player. They have just as many articles on Sims right now as they did Clayborn throughout the whole ordeal.

You theory would hold water if the Des moines Rag didn't spend more time/energy/page space covering the hoks than they do ISU. But the fact is they do. So when covering the sports, Iowa gets more page space. When an iowa player gets in trouble, less coverage than when an ISU player gets investigated.

What more do you think they know? Do you think the PD is making it a priority to keep the AD/CPR in the loop? They might have some idea of what is going on, but if they make a statement, they better be damned sure it's accurate.

There is absolutely no reason or viable excuse for the coach to be talking to the alleged victim. To try and justify it in any way is laughable.

Thats your opinion. I feel the coach has every right to contact the victim to get their story especially if the police are slow and/or uncooperative with questions from the coaching staff.

I think JD720 is right - probably not much more that can be said at this point. Police might not even know what exactly happened.

But I'm with you - when it's all done - I'd like to see a statement from the AD about what (more or less) happened and if there was wrongdoing - what was being done about it.

Not this "handled internally" area 51 stuff.

This reminds me of another situation but I will refrain from elaborating on the specifics of that. The stakes of this situation aren't quite as high as the one I am thinking of. :wink:

You have to be kidding right? I highly doubt Coach R would go talk with the victim.
