ISU @ Houston/Big Monday

I think if we down a couple of threes early, our chances become very good. If we miss those threes, Houston packs the lane and it could become a problem.

Play loose and have fun will do it!

I think shooting well is just a given if they are going win tomorrow.

My three keys for the game (besides scoring more points:jimlad:):
1) win the points off turnovers
2) don’t get abused on the ORB
3) no more than 5 differential on 3’s

some of their best offense comes off a miss.

you must keep them off the offensive glass.

As bad as those last Prohm teams were, I'd say the McDermott era was way worse. At least Prohm won a Big 12 title and made the Sweet 16. And, if I recall, we weren't as good in football either when McDermott coached.
Yeah we were awful in both Bball and Football. I know because that was my time at ISU. Our best football season was in '05 during my time and it was all downhill from there. Bball was pretty awful the entire time. I'm pretty sure I got to witness one of our Exhibition game losses to the EA Sports Allstars.

This is the crazy thing about Houston that makes their analytics off the charts - they are top 10 in offensive potential points from Steals and Offensive Rebounds. PLUS they are Top 10 in defensively limiting points from steals and opponents offensive rebounds. Usually a team that offensively rebounds extremely well won't be as good of a defensive rebounding team. Or a team that gets lots of turnovers will play at a frenetic pace and turn the ball over themselves. But they excel at both ends on both metrics - plus they are the #1 in shot block % on the season.

It's quite ridiculous

Bet on Houston to cover at -9.

Agree, but I think it all hinges on your # 2... our first possession defense is soo darn good, but our 2nd possession defense falls off a ton when we get spread out on ORB's (true for most teams but more exaggerated for us).

Plus we know their admitted offensive strategy is sometimes to just throw it up and go get a ORB.

Clones winning this baby, could place them as a 1 seed “for now”.

It hurts when you remind us of how bad it was. The FB was historically worse, but maybe not by much. Combine FB and BB, well you just have to be strong to be a Cyclone fan sometimes.

We are lucky to be where we are today. This is much more fun.

How does losing our OC to the Rams affect this game?

In review and in surprise, lost the tournover battle, but we won the RB and ORB battle and had more made 3’s. My projection was wrong in all three. Going to the fridge for some humble pie and cold crow…
