Campbell wanted Duggan, but he didn't come. Dekkers was physically gifted. He had not killed anyone, beaten grannies, nor eaten babies. Not difficult to understand at all.

Just from watching the video you can tell he's a total meathead. He didn't look like a very good leader on the field either last year.
If his parents encouraged it then it means we aren't dealing with people very high on the intellectual scale either. What parent in their right mind would allow something like that knowing the potential consequences?
There's a reason guys like Brock Purdy make it in the NFL and guys with a big arm and small brain like Dekkers end up flaming out like this.

Hey, his lawyer is out of DSM and went on record stating Hunter elected to hold himself out of fall camp in order to work on his legal defense. The obvious choice here then is Grand View. He can meet with Mr. Lawyerman, and still get to the practice field on time.

My position is that CMC had no belief nor reason to hold the belief that Hunter D. had, in fact, ingested infants. I make no guaranties or warranties, express or implied, that Hunter D. has or has not consumed babies.
How exactly do you think he should have dealt with this type of situation? As a leader, you educate as much as you can. I'm sure he and the athletic department speak often of gambling. When I was an athlete we got it pounded into our heads and that was before sports gambling was legal. When I was a college coach, we hammered the point especially around the start of big wagering events/seasons.
Campbell also educates through books and preaches good decision making.
These were student-athletes that aimed to deceive. They hid their identity. No amount of education would have directed them from the path they chose.
He came from basically nowhere, but these schools thought enough of him to offer:

Yes. But Duggan is a 2019 commit. Brock Purdy was 2018 commit. That’s why Duggan didn’t come. Dekkers is a 2020 commit. As was Aidan Boumann 2020 commit.
That may be true but the point is that countless people do change from HS to college. I'd bet most college athletes are bored and not challenged by HS and many let it get to their head. College can be a big wake up call but to expect coaches to bat 100% on predicting who will rise to the occasion and who might go down a troubled path is crazy.
I understand all of those things. BUT, had he gotten Duggan in 2019, I'd be willing to bet he might not have scored Dekkers in 2020. So please explain how my statement is off base.
