ISU Gambling Megathread

It just seems like a huge disconnect with what this coaching staff, most notably the head coach is preaching to the media and what is going on behind the scenes.

You've already seen some signs of an undisciplined program on the field the last couple years and now this? Not a good look at all for the program, especially at a time when you are finishing dead last in the conference.

No creativity, sure makes sense when you’re copying clonedude’s posting mannerism.

You can rip on me all you want... I will just say that I'm hoping and praying (and I'm not religious at all) that you are right.

I don't want this to be a permanent stain on ISU athletics. I will LOVE being absolutely wrong about this.

Thanks for the info!

Basically it means.... we're f'ed... and bad.

ISU was blindsided today... so are you saying it was a lot worse than they knew... or just that they didn't know anything would be coming out yet?
They didn’t know anything would be coming out and they didn’t know specifics. I would caveat that though in the sense of knowing facts. Of course Compliance and players/coaches knew rumors and what the parties involved had told their peers, we all did. But they weren’t going to go fishing for things or formalize anything that didn’t get brought out by the DCI.

I’m not defending Dekkers at all because it was a dumb choice but the whole sports betting culture is everywhere. You see in game odds during broadcasts and sports betting shows plus all the sites have promotions to get new bettors. I’m surprised this doesn’t happen more (it definitely does) where kids get NIL money and fire it on something they have control or inside information about. Hopefully he can rebound somewhere and continue to play at the NAIA level

We're so lucky to be the only state that enforces this. Seriously though, I wonder if it ever comes out who initiated this. Was it the new AG? Some pencil pusher in the DCI?
The book initiated it. It's a condition of their license that they're going to defend at all costs.

I'm guessing the bet takers. I'm sure they have some required auditing to keep their sports betting license and since most people lose their asses on it they want to keep that spigot open.

Screw him, he could have bet without betting on his team.

I'm starting to feel the same way the last couple years. The indications have been leaning more to the Montgomery, Breece, Brock, brilliant DC side than the "culture" side on why Campbell has been successful.

So what you are saying talent wins? That’s preposterous lol

Wouldn't a similar investigation at other schools uncover a similar number of infractions? Football has 85 scholarship players. You are going to have a few idiots on every team. It sucks more that one of our idiots happened to be our starting QB.
But wouldn't you think the compliance office would pay alot closer attention to players like the starting QB rather than the backup long snapper?

how did Hunter know he wouldn't get in the game?

Consider this. Dekkers placed that bet just a few weeks after he replaced Purdy against Iowa when Purdy was a turnover machine. Purdy could have easily been hurt or simply played poorly enough against OkSt to get benched.
