ISU:Dead man walking

Honestly do you think ISU football will average over 20k if we had to play a MAC conference schedule? If ISU averages 40k now and loses 20k tickets per game at say 50 per ticket. Thats 6 million dollars and thats not including merch sales, parking and concessions, so now add in the 1.2 from the state, 7.2 million dollars...do you think annual donations of 6 million per year will still stand, no...thats a lot of trouble. I think my point is justified.

Why would ISU lose more than 50% of its attendance, last year we averaged just under 46k, so you think we would go to 20k, get real, even the horrible criner and walden teams averaged around 30k, and that would be the worst you would have, ISU has 30-35k hardcore fans , those fans will not go away. Also, ISU goes to a lesser conference, that equals more wins, that alone will keep the crowds up. WIll we be the big loser in the whole conferance shake up, maybe, but lets not clump the Iowa State Failthful in that equation. There are plenty of ISU fans who will support ISU, not the Big 12, not the teams we play, the support ISU whomever we will play.

We did not know our non conference schedule would become our conference schedule.

Drama queen much?

ISU isn't going to the MAC and our attendance isn't being cut in half. Get a grip.

Heres a beating-a-dead-horse question:

Would you rather go 10-2 in the WAC/MAC/MWC or 7-5 in the Big 12? Bowl games are the same realistically

Let's not forget that according to the OP, we don't have an athletic department to field a team. The shop is apparently closed.

In the MAC, if we have a winning team...and a championship contending team...the fans will still come.

Historically, our football attendance is more dependent on the month of the season and the weather than than quality of our opponent. ISU will average 30,000+ no matter what conference we play in. The hit is t.v. dollars, etc..

we need to form the midlands conference with:
baylor
a and m
smu
tcu
arkansas
memphis
kansas state
kansas
mizzou
iowa state

and call it the midland 10 and to hell with the big 10 and pac 10!!!!!
that would make a pretty decent conference.

I trust that no matter what happens, we'll be able to make the best out of it.

I am sure our President and our AD are very smart and creative and as Cyclones, we should trust them and support them. Even if we end up let's say in MAC, let's continue supporting the team. One poster asked whether we prefer 7-5 in Big XII or 10-2 in MAC: I picked 7-5 in Big XII, but if we end up in MAC, I'd take 10-2.

WE'RE ALL GONNA DIE

Lets face it folks our days in the Big XII are limited, get ready to be the punch line to hawk degenerates near and wide.

Really our only hope is that JP and President Geoffroy create some kind of pack with Kansas, KSU and Mizzou (if Mizzou gets left in the cold). Otherwise our Athletic department is toast. Basketball can not/will not be the driver of revenue no matter how many games we win...unless of course Hoiberg is the next Wooden. The powers that be need to be proactive, there is much more to lose than just a conference affiliation.

The reports of ISU's demise are greatly exageratted. NO ONE REALLY KNOWS what is going to happen so why stress about it until when/if it happens? Stop being Chicken Littles. Ya'll are acting like squawk fans.
