ISU Coaching Poll

Who would be the best person to be ISU’s HC?

I voted Keep Prohm.

Regardless of the pre-Covid Trajectory, I don't think firing a coach during a Covid season is good for the long term of the program (optically or financially) I say, suck it up, give it another year and make a decision after next season.

Just my onion.
This is what I would have said at the beginning of the season. I just don’t see how Jamie can keep him around if he goes winless in conference though.

What's the deal with Anthony Grant at Dayton? Won national coach of the year last year, still at Dayton. Great resume. Seems like he would be a fantastic hire.
Yeah, I forgot about him. Could be interesting. Might have learned some things from first time in Power conference. Seems like a well respected guy. Has gone to the tournament everywhere he has coached and also has NBA bench experience.

Honestly if it were still December I'd agree with you. But this team is so incredibly bad I just can't see how he can salvage it. I think the reason you keep a coach after this kind of season is that you hope he can turn it around and that there is reasonable hope for the future.

I don't think you can expect him to add any meaningful pieces before next season now with the obscene levels of negative recruiting that would happen. So what we're probably looking at for next season is this year's team, minus Young and JCL, plus Hunter and Foster. I mean that team is probably better, but meaningfully? I mean what does that team win next year, 12 games? All that would be accomplished is delaying the inevitable.

I think next years team has a decent chance at being decent but with a new coaching staff. There are some pieces there with Hinson and Hunter coming in. I am just not convinced Prohm is the guy to get the most out of them. Plus, if Prohm does somehow get to stay another year, I’m guessing the coaching staff will look completely different. How will that affect things? And we know there will be some players leaving the program, how much will those hurt? Just way too many variables for my liking.

I voted Davries even though I see virtually no connecting lines b/w Pollard and him. I follow Drake as my 'emergency backup' team and have since the Dolph Days. Davries strikes me as a guy who has coaching in his DNA.
Bringing his kid with him sort of ala McDermott/kid at Creighton would be delightful -- not saying the kid is POY material, but sure seems like an "ISU kind of kid" and would get us back into the perception of being an Iowa school]
.
TJ would be more than fine with me, though.
