ISU #2 Pre-Season

Exactly, recruits don't want to come to schools that are predicted to finish in the bottom half of the conference. They want to go to schools that are consistently top ranked in the country.
Thank you! It gets tiring on here having everyone say that they like it more when we are under appreciated. If ISU is very highly respected before every season it will also help us a ton in the recruiting market. If we can't win when we are the 800 pound gorilla then we are chokers. I say bring on the hype and high ranking and let's see how well our boys react to it.
Because in my heart-of-hearts I did not believe we were as lowly rated as the sportwriters predicted the previous two seasons.
It's definitely a paradigm shift to be expected to do well. I've only been a Cyclone fan for 31 years, I barely know how to handle this! 
Great. The Hawktards at HN have an ongoing thread complaining about our pre-season #4 ranking. This #2 ranking will make their heads explode.
Kentucky lost to Robert Morris in the first round of the NIT in 2013 and were preseason #1 in the fall 2013 AP Preseason Poll.

I agree with anywhere from #6 to God forbid #9 preseason.
If we are #9 you can bet we'll be a #2 or #1 seed and get upset in the NCAA first round next year.

Until the draft-declaration/transfer/one and done dust settles, rankings will fluctuate. I expect ISU to wind up in top 10 preseason, but possibly not top 5 - at least a few higher profile programs will push us downward a little. Human nature.
But it's likely this will be the highest preseason expectation since, when was it, 1996-97?

I don't care who UNC brings back, they're just not a #1 team in my mind. Don't know who it should be, but it shouldn't be them.
5th.
Still working on Brown (probably a long shot) and Mack (more reasonable chance) plus 1 more opening. Brown would easily move us to #1 but I feel he goes to Michigan.
