I think it's Brock. If Brock has a good game (although I agree Kolar does have a large effect on that), we will win the game.
I'm more worried about losing contain on Brock and him hurting us with his legs more than his arm.

UNI started double teaming him like the whole second half. He's so slippery.
Kirk isn't benching Petras unles Petras throws multiple INT's (3+) or gets injured. Or somehow we're up big and he doesn't believe Spencer is the guy to make the comeback (think there's a 1% chance this happens). Some more:
Petras gets pulled for backup after Iowa's first offensive possession stalls in the 3rd qtr
Backup, Idk who it would be, breathes fresh life into Iowa's offense and swings momentum back Iowa's way
Iowa State finds the end zone but finds it from afar on explosive and broken plays
Iowa State offense struggles inside the red zone but has success between the 20s.
I believe we're talking just the past two. Or at least I was. Since Nate Stanley has been QB, Iowa's truly been a playmaker behind the center from being an elite team overall.

Yeah I meant Brock's overall game. He needs to use his legs and be multidimensional. Iowa wants him to sit back and read the defense. He's at his best when he plays freely. He just needs to hold onto the ball when he gets out into the open field.I'm more worried about losing contain on Brock and him hurting us with his legs more than his arm.
Agreed I do think Stanley is much better so far, but again, to be a truly elite team, you need a guy back there that's a gamer. A guy who can take over the game against a good team. Stanley just wasn't that. At his best, he was a good QB.I agree, but Stanley was still pretty solid for the most part. Didn't make many mistakes and I trusted him to not throw many INTs. Can't say the same for Petras so far in his career. He makes a lot of throws that make you say WTF.
Ah, gotcha. I can agree. I honestly think this years Iowa team is top 7 with Beathard, and probably higher with Banks.I believe we're talking just the past two. Or at least I was. Since Nate Stanley has been QB, Iowa's truly been a playmaker behind the center from being an elite team overall.

Uhhh maybe.. I think defensively for sure. I think Goodson is better than a lot of RB's in the past, but I think the WR's are too green and they lack size as of right now.Ah, gotcha. I can agree. I honestly think this years Iowa team is top 7 with Beathard, and probably higher with Banks.
Well **** that really isn't saying much lol. No offense but outside of Northwestern Iowa didn't play a team with a heartbeat. There were tons of reasons as to why the teams Iowa played weren't good and credit to Iowa for still winning, but the road to the B1G championship game on the West side was not very hard last year.Iowa would have went undefeated last year with Stanley at QB until the Big 10 Championship game.

Yeah I'd probably agree. Last year, and even this year to some extent, having a QB that has experience is important. That's why I'm very interested to see how Petras performs Saturday considering it's his first actual road game. Not saying it was, but Stanley would have made a huge difference for Iowa last year. They would have won the west, appeared in the CCG and made a NY6 bowl possibly against ISU.
With Stanley last year and Iowa is a solid top 10 team easily. They had Nixon on Defense and Smith and ISM on offense. Not to mention Jackson at LT.
I'm not sure I claimed that actually. The phantom holding call in 2019 was far more significantClaiming that Iowa has won the last 5 matchups because it is their Super bowl makes you a loser.
Sharp money is on the overFirst team to 20 wins?
I just hope ISU plays a clean game. Think it's going to be a slugfest

I think WR’s are a bit of a question mark, but LaPorta has looked very good. His ability to get YAC is impressive.Uhhh maybe.. I think defensively for sure. I think Goodson is better than a lot of RB's in the past, but I think the WR's are too green and they lack size as of right now.
And they are lacking a TE. LaPorta is OK but he has serious drop issuesUhhh maybe.. I think defensively for sure. I think Goodson is better than a lot of RB's in the past, but I think the WR's are too green and they lack size as of right now.
Yeah but we don't usually get hurt by that. Parker coaches our DL to maintain, if you watch them a lot of the time some of them aren't even trying to get penetration on pass plays, it's like they're running a DL spy on the QB to contain and not get burned by overpursuit.
