ISO: Mailbag questions

1.) I think the general consensus is that the o-line will be in overall better shape come fall camp next year, but why? Don't we lose Scoggins, and Bobek? I feel like the o-line might have some troubles next year as well.
2.) If you had to make a prediction right now, were does Wiggington wind up?

Who is the most high profile player to ever dunk on you? And also you on them? Grant Stout dunked on me once, pretty ferociously.

Also, if you could pick one, ISU wins a bowl game in the next 5 yrs or Nebraska wins a NCAA tournament game in the next 5 yrs, and the other gets nothing for the next 10, which do you choose?

Dunk on me is former NAIA first team All-American Keith Steffeck. We played William Penn in a scrimmage before my freshman year. I was a stupid freshman that tried to break up an alley-oop and got slammed. I think that team went on to lose in the national championship game. He played in the Summer League this year with the Grizzlies and made it to the last cut in training camp with the Pacers in 2013.

Dunk on came in high school against former Nodaway Valley all-stater Alex Welsch ( who has gone on to have a really nice career at Grand View). Was the first game of my senior year of high school. I had dunks on back-to-back possessions in the first half. Went on to win in overtime on a three at the buzzer. Scoured my old Facebook pics to find this one:

I threw down a dunk against Denison when Brandon Scherff (former Iowa O-Lineman, now with the Washington Redskins) played for them, but it wasn't on him.

Regarding the other question, I'd take the Iowa State bowl win. You guys are much hungrier for that than Nebraska is for an NCAA tournament win in basketball. Plus, an ISU bowl game would mean traveling and I never complain about traveling.

Both of these questions will be discussed more on this week's On the Trail posting tomorrow morning.

1) I most definitely see where you are coming from with the offensive line. They should be a little more solid at the tackle positions with Campos, Good-Jones and Philbert all returning with playing time. Have to assume Sean Foster will work his way into that mix, too.

The inside is going to be a mess to shake out.

2) I think Iowa State is in a good position.

Your coaching staff has had about 20 spring ball practices with this team and maybe 30 fall practices. Both UNI and Iowa have had 100's of practices with their junior and senior players. By the end of the season you'll have doubled your practice time, with the players, from where we are today. Do you expect this will be indicated on the field by a team that keeps getting better every week? Are you seeing improvements in practice? I played D3 football and was part of a rebuilding program. We sucked badly in our first 8 games but half our starters were freshman and we had only 4 seniors. Amazingly, we wound up winning 3 of our last 4 games. That first 8 games was like we were running uphill, all of a sudden things clicked in our 9th game and we started sprinting down hill. Any chance this team will have a similar breakout?

I can't answer all of these in the mailbag so I'll do it here.

1. The Eminem Show

2A. Vegas Bomb
2B. Is Hawkeye an option?

3. Jamaal Charles was the first player I got in my auction draft. Took AP with the first pick in my other draft.

4. Toss up between Lance Jeter and Ade Dagunduro.

No love for Tyron Lu? (spelling?)

Do we have any formations where we bring two backs to the backfield to help run block, and any plays where we throw to a receiver over the middle?

Strong upset of the week prediction taking Nebraska over Oregon when they're favored in Vegas by 3.
