It's not but I voted yes just because it would be miserable around here if we don't. It is a very important game

Just had this thought... especially with ISU going to visit KU this weekend. Potentially 3 losses in a row would send the board into full panic.

BTW it isn't. ISU could lose both and still be in okay shape to get into the NCAA tourney.

It probably isn't, but it feels like it.

You guys are where I am. Probably not at this point but it's a big opportunity to get a win over a legit top level program that would let us all breath a little easier and give us some margin for error.

Can't say it's a 'must win', but I feel like if they lose this one, they almost need to find 6 wins instead of 5 to make up for it and solidify a tourney spot...five is going to be hard enough to find.

This is a very beatable WV team compared to last year, and this is a game that typically would be a redemption game, but I'm not sure if this ISU team has the ability to pull it off with such a thin margin of error.

I'm not expecting a win so at least maybe I can avoid the nervousness of a tight game late.

They'd better treat it as one.

With ten games left plus the Big 12 Tourney, we need to sweeten up that resume to get in. I'm having a hard time seeing wins @ KU, @KState or @ WVU, with Kstate as the most likely of the three. Also @ Tech, @ Texas and Baylor in Hilton are gonna be dogfights.

IMO, the true MUST wins are Oklahoma, TCU and Oklahoma State at home. That puts us at 16 wins. Then we need 3-4 more to get us in the committee's favor. That Miami win won't carry much weight if the rest of our wins are lackluster.

The Big 12/SEC challenge is going to hurt people's perception of our conference and makes being a bubble team much scarier than it was a week ago. The outcomes of most of those games surprised me. Even Baylor and WVU's wins were shakier than I anticipated.

I said yes, because home wins are generally more achievable.....having said that, this team is impossible to predict, so who knows?

IMO, we need 1 or 2 of the remaining 4 WVU, KU and BU games. So while not a must win, it certainly would take the stress off the remaining games, especially it being a home game. Losing twice this week would suck quite a bit.

No, imo this team goes 0-6 vs. KU, BU & WVU. Which means we have to make hay vs. everyone else to get to the tournament. Must wins will be everyone else who comes to Hilton plus most of the road games.

Meh, we've proven that we can play every bit as well on the road as we can at home. Or poorly.

I get it, and it would feel so much better to win this, but I hate the words "Must Win". So what does a must-win loss imply? It almost implies that 'if' we would lose to WV, we can't get hot and go on a good run to finish the conference games out. So it would be like having little faith that our team could make much out of their season. So I will say, no. Not a must win. But a sorely needed one!

Not quite. But it does represent one of their last really good chances to notch a win over a highly ranked opponent. They're unlikely to go into Lawrence or Morgantown and get a win in either place, so if they're going to beef up their resume with some signature wins then this as good as an opportunity as they have left.

It's not a must win by any means. IMO, we need to get one of the 4 against BU, KU, and WVU, so we'd still have 3 more chances.

We could even drop those 4, go 10-8 in the B12 and be fine, I think.

I was looking at their predictions, and have Iowa St 40% to win vs WVU, but like 55% to win vs Baylor. Personally, I would have them flipped.

Which does make the WVU game very important. If they lose, Baylor and/or a conf tournament game is must win.

Bottom line, we need to get to 18 wins, however that's possible. And when then, we'll probably be sweating on selection Sunday.

Probably, but I'd rather go into Selection Sunday with a win over a high profile opponent or two. Getting a W at KU or WVU is going to be extremely difficult, so if they're going to get any of the four you mentioned above this is probably their best shot. Not a must win, but definitely a big opportunity.
