This thread is dedicated to the exploration of our OC's employment. I would like to see some reasoning regarding why CM should be retained. This isn't a meltdown thread so post one-liners elsewhere.

In my opinion CM should be removed immediately. If you think I'm wrong please explain why in detail. Again, I'd like to facilitate some thoughtful discourse here and am willing to listen to reasons for keeping Messingham...currently I see none.

Others asked what they wanted to here from CPR during the post game presser: for me something about CM is on the hot seat would have been fine with me.

I got no reason to keep him.

I can't see one reason for keeping him. They won't do it during the season, just because, but they could take his play calling duties away and basically cut his testicles off. If I was CPR last night, I would have lit a fire under that offensive staff.

It's not unheard of for coordinators to be fired mid-season. IMO if PR wants to send a message that ISU is about winning he should fire him. That will get the attention of every coach on the staff. Part of the job of a D1 HC is firing people.

The achilles heel of a D1 HC is keeping your buddies on staff too long. Hopefully CPR doesn't make that mistake.

Because i'm not sure we'll ever have a more apt nickname for an offensive coordinator, so at least we've got that going for us.

Based on what was said, I think one can infer that Mess IS, in fact, on the hot seat at this point. From a PR, standpoint that's how it is done. Rhoads is openly questioning the playcalling and how the offense is being run - that's all that needs to be said. That's about as close as a head coach can come to saying "The offensive coordinator is on thin ice." Sturdy and Klenakis have both been OCs in D1 programs. I read it as Rhoads indicating his finger in on the trigger. I think Mess has one game left and maybe two to show he's not incompetent.

IMO he already has. Besides being a good coach I heard that Earle Bruce was a real ****. I'd rather win with an HC who dealt with poor performance than lose one who won't. Don't forget what we're paying PR...

IMO you do not fire after one game. Privately CM is given notice he is on the hot seat. And CPR should give notice that Wimberly be used on KO's. Notice should also be given that we need to improve play calling and stretch the field. Pitiful performance on offense and defense. Pitiful game plan. Only bright side is the reduced threat of CPR and the rest of the coaches being hired away.

100% agree. BUT, imo PR can't wait to lose to UI & TU. The change should be announced on Tuesday morning.

I can't really think of one, and I'm a glass always full guy. It's either believe that we have wrong OC, or believe that we don't have talent, and I've seen enough of our skill players to know that they can do well when given the opportunity.

I've seen nothing out of Messingham to indicate he has any ability as a coordinator. My question would be, is there anyone else on staff qualified to call plays? I'm not sure I'd want CPR to take over since his background is on the defensive side of the ball.

Typically I'd be right here with you but combine the Liberty Bowl disaster / whatever the **** last night was / a season in which we were projected to struggle for six wins I think PR should send a quick and severe message...we're not bagging this ****ing season, **** performance will be dealt with.
