Is Sam Richardson (FL) a soft verbal?

After reading TOS and the rivals main board, ISU is actively recruiting and offered scholarships to 3 qbs for the 2011 class. My concern is Grady choosing another school and Richardson decommitting leaving us with Daniels. Really confused.

I heard he backed off that solid verbal because some people didn't make it back from the restrooms, concession stands and parking lots quick enough after the half:jimlad:

My guess is that Grady and RIchardson are both QB prospects. I think they both have a bunch of potential. I really don't believe Daniels is a QB recruit. I think he may be a TE or a Dline recruit. Now if we somehow miss on the other two, he may try out at QB, hell maybe he is going to get a shot to start off his career anyway, but with Tiller, Capello, Barnett and more likely than not one of Richardson or Grady, he won't be at QB.

As for Richardson, who knows? I would think he would be getting some love from elsewhere but it is hard to tell where and what he is thinking.

I would think after being at the game, Richardson would see some early playing opportunities at I State.

Most of the time high school teams have their best athlete playing QB, just because we are recruiting a QB, doesn't mean we are recruiting them to be a QB. Our center and a few of our receivers were high school QB's as well...

I think that you are right on Daniels. He may well come in as a QB, but I'm betting that they are looking at him as more of an "athlete" that could end up at TE, LB or DE.

As for Richardson, I would think that we will hear more about his commitment this week since he was on an official visit.

If Richardson has the swagger I think he has, he shouldn't be bothered by some competition. I have to think he is the guy the staff really wants at qb, and could be in the qb picture the day he hits campus. He looks like the qb we need to run the spread, and I'm looking forward to some info on how his visit went this week-end.

Richardson says ISU runs pretty much exactly the same offense he runs in high school. Same terminology as Herman even. That is HUGE.

I remember he really wanted to go to Vanderbilt, and was going to commit if they offered. They never offered, because they were going after a top 150 recruit (Vad Lee). He committed to Georgia Tech not too long ago. I'm guessing if they start sniffing around he could change his mind. I hope not, he is perfect for us. I really hope he enjoyed it here.

ps. Georgio Newberry just committed to Florida State.

Paul Rhoads was on the phone with Newberry at the beginning of the season, and I think that ended our involvement. I think Rhoads wanted an honest answer about our chances, and got one. We are not at the state of our program to get recruits like that on the Dline.

I agree, but a positive sign is that I am pretty sure Newburry did make it here to visit this summer. That's progress.
