Is ISU relevant?

I remember a few weeks back somebody was implying how we are irrelevant. It amazes me how CF is getting fans from so many different programs posting here. I'm just confused why that's the case if we have no relevance.

I live in Ames and have for over 20 years. Both of my children are ISU graduates. How could I not pay attention to what happens with ISU?

The main thing I'm getting at is this: If ISU is such a joke according to some of the people who post on here, why are they even on here? I haven't been on here too long, but I know of Iowa, Kansas, Oklahoma, Northern Iowa, Wichita State, and others' fans who post on here. They aren't all bad, but some are, I won't mention their names. If ISU is so irrelevant, why do they continually post here instead of posting on their own team sites?

I posted on the TAMUCC board like 2 years ago. They arent relevant, are they?

I live in LA where hardly anybody is a sports fan at all, even of local teams, but a guy at work came up to me last week out of the blue and says "How'd you lose to Texas Tech?". So I'd say our basketball program is quite relevant when people on the other side of the country in a non-sports-fan market are coming up to me talking about ISU after a loss. I'm also surprised how frequently people who have no connection to Iowa will talk to me about I-State logo on a tshirt or jacket and always know it's Iowa State or the Cyclones.

I heard somebody a few weeks ago say "I'm not watching the Superbowl. I'm not much of a basketball fan." Even living in that culture I still get people approaching me about ISU basketball if they see the logo.

Football - questionable. Looks like no ISU player was invited to NFL combine. You are getting some exposure via Carson Wentz. Hope your new coach gets things turned around.

Grocery store checkout guy in LA yesterday seeing a very small "I State" on my gray colored pullover: "Hey go Cyclones!"

I'm telling you the brand identity changeup is a complete 100% success. People don't even generally follow sports out here and I get it recognized all the time. Not one mention of Idaho, Illinois, Buckeyes or Hawkeyes.

I also think being on ESPN networks a majority of games for basketball and ranked for so many years straight that we're typically in SC highlights has really helped.
