Rather than having people wonder why the Michigan State thread kept getting bumped this is probably worth it's own thread. We wrestle Iowa in Iowa City @7PM on Saturday. It does not show up on BTN's schedule nor on BTN2go's online streaming listings for Iowa. So hopefully they allow mediacom or cyclones.tv to show it, or something.

Should be some good individual matchups, but Iowa leads the series 62-16-2, with our last victory coming in 2004. And that's probably going to notch over to 63-16-2 after Saturday.

Thanks for the updates Judoka, haven't commented much but thanks anyway. This is why Iowa fans can't be too happy with the Big Ten network. They struggle getting them to pay any attention especially after the move east. It would really suck to not be able to watch this for the first time in many years.

125: Iowa major
133: Iowa win
141: Iowa win
149: Iowa major
157: Iowa win
165: ISU win
174: Iowa win
184: Iowa win
197: ISU major (Burak out for a few more weeks)
HWT: Iowa major or fall

That's if you held a gun to my head. I think we get one. I see the final in the 23-10 range.

As I noted in another thread, we aren't in their class but we have improved and IMHO are firmly in that 2nd tier behind Iowa/the OSUs/PSUs of the world.

Not that I'd necessarily predict it, but I'd really like to see Spoon beat Brooks at 184. I think he's just really consistently solid and should be closer to the 12-15 range in the rankings.

Just stupid if they don't find a way to allow us to watch this on TV.

Neither team has put out their press releases for the meet yet. So I'm hoping they have something worked out that just isn't showing up on the BTN website yet.

I had something similar in the other thread. I see a chance at 157, but 165 is no lock for me. I would love to see Spoon win at 184 and if it was anyone else, I'd like Weatherman at 174. That said, it will be very, very tough for either of them. I could also see 125 getting out of hand in a hurry.

I think we can be competitive in most matches. I am not as sold on Iowa at 141, 149, 157 and 184 as they are.

I thought this usually aired on IPTV?

This. I thought they always hold their big telethon during the weekend of the ISU v Iowa wrestling match. Perhaps this is outdated. It's been years since I tuned in to it.

While I don't see us pulling this out, 141 is a key match, to me. Meeks needs to find a way out of his funk, and Dziewa is a highly rated but beatable guy.

Gabe has a big opportunity at 149.

Anything, and I mean anything, can happen at 157.

What would it take for ISU to win this. Who would the most likely upsets be?

My take for ISU to win:

125-hold this to a dec 3-0 IA
133-Hall was close last year, needs the upset 3-3
141-IA win though it's not a lock 6-3 IA
149-Moreno win 6-6
157-Kelly is very beatable, almost lost to Iowa Central's guy 9-6 ISU
165-Moreno win 12-6 ISU
174-Don't think an upset can happen here except an injury 12-9 ISU
184-Pull an upset here 15-9 ISU (or 12-12)
197-Bonus since Burak is out 18+-9 (or 16+-12)
HWT-Don't give up bonus 18+-12 (or 16+-15)

That is asking for quite a bit in Carver, but it's possible. Iowa could come out flat since the only D1 guys they have seen this year is each other.

I think we've got a shot in all the individual matchups other than 125 and HWT. Hall can beat Clark, Meeks can beat Dwieza. Little Moreno can beat Grothus or Sorenson, Goettl can beat whoever takes the mat at 157, Weatherman can beat Evans, Weatherspoon can beat Brooks. None of those are unbelievable upsets. I just don't see enough of those all happening on the same night.

In my opinion, and in order, my upsets would be (I look at 157 and 165 as toss ups):

- 149
- 184
- 133
- 141
- 174
- 125
- HWT

We are the clear favorite at 197.

I think I'd swap 184 and 133, and HWT with 125 (Heavyweights always have the chance of a flash pin). But other than that i agree with that order.

I agree with you. We are going to have to wrestle all the way out to the edge of the mat, and all the way to the whistle though. Those are the situations that just kill us against Iowa.
