Iowa vs Penn State

Injured players didn't get booed. Sure the couple kids who laid on the field for 5 minutes and then popped up and started jumping around and came back on the field a play or two later got booed, but they weren't injured.

Mustipher who left the game injured never got booed. Clifford left the game injured and never got booed, Lovett left the game injured and never got booed, Ford left the game injured and never got booed. Those were the guys who came out of the Iowa game actually injured, and they were never booed.

Thanks for proving my point. Hok fans can’t admit when they when they make a mistake.

But it’s typical Hok speak. They can’t admit when they made a mistake. Rather they find ways to make their actions rationale. Which they don’t understand only makes them look even worse. And cyclone fans sit back with popcorn and enjoy the negative publicity.

By all means, please continue to try to justify why booing an injured player was the right thing to do.
You think that’s what’s happening with Iowa right now? Lol.

There’s blinded by hate. And then there’s living in an alternate universe.

So NOT booing the players who were injured was a mistake?
I’m glad fans and coaches know if a player is injured or not instead of the player themselves. I didn’t know it was the opposing teams coaches or fans to make that determination.

And yet here we go… continuing to justify such actions. It’s a bad look to the school and image of Hok fans no matter how you try to spin or rationalize it.

So by all means, continue this discussion. I’m absolutely loving how the media is finally seeing the behavior of Hok fans.

The recruiting benefits of that game is already paying dividends on the recruiting front. My sources are telling me we could see up to 4 flips on kid committed to other P5 programs, Kaleb, Hall, Allen, and Membou. Not only that, but Iowa is in really good shape with Nwankpa who was super impressed with the crowd and atmosphere at Kinnick. That isn't even taking into account how many high profile '23 recruits were also at the game and loved everything about it.

It is only Penn St. fans and their close brethren ISU fans who are "outraged" over this.

The Iowa football program was doted on for 8 hours on Fox. Culminating in a win over the #4 team in the country, with 7 million people watching and 80 recruits in attendance.

So much terrible publicity!

You are correct fans don't know who is injured. That is why it is so unfortunate that Franklin has his "scuba, dive, and turtle" strategies. Once he uses those, fans have no way of knowing what is legit and what isn't. When two players spend 5 minutes on the field and all it takes if for Franklin himself to come over and touch them to get them up and jumping around and back in the game a couple plays later, the fans don't know what is real and what isn't.

Most people understand that you don't sympathise with the boy who cried wolf, it only encourages bad behavior. Only Penn St. fans and ISU fans are siding with James Franklin who cried wolf.

Trying to spin what is happening with the Iowa football program at this moment into a negative is just…wow. Crazy.

I think ISU fans have actually talked themselves into believing this was bad publicity for Iowa. It is hard to believe, but I really shouldn't be shocked any more by the things they talk themselves into.

Ah - I see. So the fans knew these “code words” ahead of time. And they heard these code words being used when a player got injured.

Once again, stop trying to justify booing injured players! Why can’t any Iowa fan understand this simple concept? It’s such a bad look for fans and the university.

Fans should do what Ferentz should had done: Either stay quiet or say the actions of the minority who were booing are not representative of our fan base. That’s it! There’s no good rationale to explain the behavior.

It’s sports drama. No one really cares. It comes with the territory of being the #2 team in the country. If anything it’s just drawing more attention to the #2 team in the country.

no injuries were booed ,there wasn’t a sound made when an offensive player for PSU went down. Booing was for the delay of game when IA had some momentum on offense.
Not to mention if the fans were so terrible wouldn’t they cheer when an opponent was injured not boo
Franklin is a POS, his second press conference was ridiculous , didn’t even make sense , why would he bring up his QB injury, had nothing to do with the issue

I mean they’ve convinced themselves Iowa is the #2 team in the country, through no effort of its own. It’s “luck”, refs, injuries…on and on. The universe has conspired to make them #2. They’ve done nothing to get there.

Nah - We're really just embarrassed that we have to share a state with 'fans like that'. Especially, since Iowa is essentially a 'fly over state' with the entirety of it's populous lumped into one big mass to most of those 7M viewers - likely wondering why fans AT A GAME would boo an injured college athlete - regardless of 'code words'.

At the end of the day if UT or OU or KSU or OSU or TCU or KU or BU or TTU or WVU tried to use 'turtle' tactics I can all but guarantee the majority of fans in JTS wouldn't feel the need mock/ridicule a college athlete who is potentially injured based on our 'sense of smell' - it just isn't the type of sportsmanship (let's be honest - humanness) we want to embody.

We've lost a lot in our history, no need to lose our decency along the way. But I suppose that is what separates a Hok from a Cyclone - pride in how their institution is represented on the biggest stages, under the brightest lights, regardless of the final score.

I frankly think Iowa is deserving of the spot. They’ve played a tough schedule and are unbeaten.

But these comments continue to prove my point. Hok fans can’t admit they made a mistake. They continue to justify their actions and try to belittle anyone who tells them to be quiet or be respectful.

This is negative publicity to the university. Take off your black and gold glasses. How would Hok fans react if the situation was reversed? I would imagine most would be furious. How would Penn St handle the same situation? They likely would make no comment or it’s not representative of their fans

Never forget, these very same folks were upset by the Stanford band

Maybe this has been mentioned already, but we as fans did the exact same thing to West Virginia in 2016. They had people “injured” when we started running downhill and so did Penn State on Saturday. Both sides had actual injuries of course, but the amount and timing was definitely fishy for both WV and PSU.

A game Iowa State lost 49-19, where the only touchdown was a kickoff return?

This is an honest question. In terms of college football media, do you venture outside of this board?
