Iowa Vs Indiana

Indiana is gawd awful. They started the year with one returning letterman iirc. Iowa should beat them like a drum

Thankfully Kevin Simpson will never coach in the NCAA again because of his sins

Indiana will probably be the worst team in the Big 10 this year. Crean is a good coach but he took over an aweful mess left from the Sampson hire. I guess that is what IU gets for hiring a sleazy coach with no ethics.

Another boring game at Carver!.. .Drake games are have more excitement then this.

Get use to Iowa games being "boring". That is the way they play. Lick is a good coach so it I don't think it'll be too long until they starting winning but they will always be "boring".

On a side note, I think Iowa fans will be very happy with Lick for about a year or 2 then they will start to get frustrated and eventually run him out of town (a la Tom Davis). I think this because I think Lick's style will start to beat good team and get into the tourney but it will also allow sub par teams to stick around (since it is so slow and guard oriented). I think Iowa doesn't have the patience and if they go back to being a perennial tourney team but never any farther than the first round, they will want more...

After 8 years of Alford, I don't think so. Will Cyclone fans be willing to run Rhoads out of town if he doesn't produce like Mac did? Chizik and Alford were clones of each other - both were brought in with much fanfare, with promises of bringing their respective teams to the next level. Both turned out to be more hype than substance, and got out of town before they got fired.

I do get your point that they had high hopes and failed but you can't say they are the same. Alford was basically ran out of town because the fan base hated him, Chizik left for greener pastures. Alford actually won at Iowa (big 10 championships and such), where Chizik had 0 success. Finally, the fan base LOVED chizik in general while he was here where Iowa's fan base hated Alford (after the first 3 or 4 years, and I can't blame them because Alford sucked).

I see what your saying but I think they are more different than they are the same.

Indiana is really awful. Iowa should be blowing them away, but they keep hanging around. I guess Iowa isn't good enough to score enough points to blow anyone away.

You nailed it. They have the D and they have the coaching. They just aren't there yet on the offensive end. This sounds familiar...:skeptical:

Crean's going to have Indiana improving sooner rather than later. People think our program was in bad shape? IU had NOTHING.

They're more alike than you think. While the fan base did grow tired of Alford, it wasn't like he was ran out of town. If anyone ran him out, it was Barta when he said that another rebuilding year would not be acceptable. Alford saw the writing on the wall and got out of dodge.

Chizik may have left for greener pastures, and while he may not have had any success at Iowa State, you can't say that his teams wouldn't have gotten better in the future. It's a pretty universal opinion that the football program as a whole is light years ahead of where it was when Chizik arrived. The jury is out on how good a coach he is or isn't.

I think it was about the same. IU had 4 scholarship players come back, as did we. They had the benefit of being Indiana. There is a very proud tradition happening there that is very persuasive with recruits.

Indiana just broke Sean Haluska's record for most missed fast break layups in one game.
