Iowa vs. Big 12

I agree.

Scoreboard ISU!

You agree...and yet you started this thread. Shoulda just started a thread that said:

"Yay! Iowa St beat Iowa! In your faces!"

That would have been more relevant and more telling to who is the better team right now. Because going back 10 years doesn't tell us ****.

Just trying to start a debate.

I understood it would be back and forth of how many years you look at. If we look at Iowa in the 80's when Hayden Fry was in his hayday, the numbers look a lot different.

It wasn't much of a debate, I'm pretty sure I handed you your ***:spinny:

after reading that I thought I should add that I was being facetious. Not sure it came across that way.

B/c 20 games is more relevant. What do games being played in the 80's have to do with now?

I've said it before but ISU would win more games in the Big 10. They've shown this on the football field.

The fact that the Big 10 has been DOMINATED by the Big 12 (even the North) the past 10 years shows it.

Well to get to the 20 games he had to go back to 1997 or 1998 to get that record for Iowa so I don't think those games are anymore relevant then games in the 80's do you?

The last 10 years the Big 12 is 23-19 against the Big Ten.
ISU: 5-6
Kansas: 0-2
K State: 0-1
Missouri: 7-2 with most if not all wins coming against Illinois
Nebraska: 3-1
Colorado: 0-1
Baylor: 0-1
Texas: 4-1
Texas A&M: 0-1
Texas Tech: 3-2
Oklahoma: 0-0
Oklahoma St: 1-1

This is the 2nd time I have had to prove to you that the Big 12 hasn't dominated the Big Ten (even the North). Maybe the Big 12 is better than the Big Ten, but not as much as you guys like to think.

Facts are Facts. Is the Big 12 done? Probably. Has the Big 12 dominated the Big 10? Yes. Does the Big 10 have the worst bowl record the past 15 years of any BCS conference? Yes.

I know facts are facts and in the last 42 games the Big 12 has only won 4 more games then the Big Ten, how is that dominated?

And what is the point of bringing up the bowl record now, is it to change the subject because you are wrong about the Big 12 dominating the Big 10? Iowa is 3-1 against the SEC in their last 4 bowl games against the SEC does that mean Iowa could win the SEC easier than the Big Ten?

Using the logic in this thread, yes without a doubt. 4 game sample size is more than enough.

So when the Big 12 is no more in existence, and ISU moves to the Big East or where ever the heck they end up, are you still going to be looking back to the glory days and bragging about how good the Big 12 was?

Nope, I won't. I know it will be odd, since you will still be talking about when you use to dominate us in the 80's and 90's but no I won't

Who was Iowa's coach in 2001? Who was Iowa's coach in 1980? Please tell me how it doesn't have more relevance.

That's about the only semblance between 2001 and now. Because every player is different. And believe it or not, they are the ones that have to win the game.

Here's an interesting site:

https://sportsdelve.wordpress.com/2011/01/13/conference-vs-conference-bowl-records/

Big Ten and Big 12 are 13-13 all time against each other in the bowls. That's just the Big 12 (not including the Big 8, which would put the Big Ten at 17-14 overall).

All time, the Big Ten is 236-94 against the Big 12 (excluding Nebraska and Colorado). So sure, over the last 10 years, the Big 12 has been the better conference more often than not, but since it's inception in 1996, the two are .500 in bowl games, and all time against current members, the Big Ten has been the overwhelming superior conference.

Well you can go ahead all day and think that the Big 12 is such an elite conference compared to the Big 10, but at the end of the day, the Big 10 is still going to be here. Unfortunately for you, the Big 12 can't say the same thing.

So go ahead and keep talking up the Big 12, because from the looks of it, you've only got a couple years left of that before it doesn't exist any longer.

The Big Ten has population centers and TV sets........and mediocre football teams.

Gloating over the demise of a great BCS conference and the subsequent negative impact on an in-state university is pretty lame. Just my opinion.

Using head-to-head records to argue one conference is better than the other is stupid. The Big East has dominated the Big 12 the past 10 years. You think the Big East is the better conference?

Well...duh! The BEast is the best athletic conference in the history of anything, ever.

So using games that are being played on the field as evidence is stupid? Got ya. I guess ISU isn't better than Iowa this year despite beating them.
