Iowa State Vs. Iowa

Franklin looks to be a beast. ISU will have trouble with the Iowa D-line but could find some holes in Iowa's LB's

Herkykiller you're embarrassing. I'm convinced that you can't be older than 21 just based on your comments.

I'm sorry but you just sound like the typical college kid who runs his mouth but doesn't know the first thing about college football.

We certainly have a shot, but at the same time, most rational fans realize that they beat us good last year in the Jack and return a huge amount of their team from last year.

Logic would tell us that its going to be a big challenge, thats what I expect it to be.

Anythings possible.

You have to be some old smart *** who thinks he knows everything about college football.

Did I get you right over the interwebs?

Only stupid people try to judge others over the internet. Looks like you fall into that catergory.

It's embarrassing when you try to come off as a know it all :chatterbox:

And never once did I say we were going to win, I said I didnt like how Iowa played. Also I said we have a good chance at beating them. So the next time you open your mouth, how about you read my posts god.

Seriously?

How many career redzone TDs do Collin Franklin and Sed Johnson have?
.

You have a point, but that really was an aside to the point I was trying to make in that post. I do think that while these guys haven't found the end zone much, they have the skills to be guys that can get the ball in the end zone despite tough coverage. Look at the plays we ran for Sedrick last week -- the fades and fade stop type patterns where he adjusts to the ball in the air. Those are the kind of things you see most often in the red zone where things tighten up.

That vaunted Iowa D-line better play better against ISU's O-line this year than they did last year. ISU's o-line *****-slapped them around last year. I know the score was lopsided but it wasn't because your D-line dominated the game.

Simplify it for them.

Big Targets = Red Zone Threats

The D-line acknowledged that last year's ISU game was their worst game. I expect Clayborn and Company ready for another shot at the Cyclones.

I am certainly not trying to talk smack (ok maybe a little bit, it is rivalry week ) but I just wish you guys would give ISU's o-line a little more credit instead of continually saying it was their worst game. Our o-line last year was pretty good and it is much better than average again this year. KO is a legit NFL left tackle if he continues to develop the way he is. I know they will play better this year but I don't think it is going to be a dominating performance by any means. We shall see!!!

Iowa State is good. After seeing how other teams in the North played, they may be second best, behind Nebraska. I like Robinson. He is a legit stud runningback. I doubt we will see too many deep balls from Arnaud next week. He will keep it short and simple, to try and control the ball. The ISU defense showed some good things vs. NIll, and at times really frustrated their QB. Sims will be a huge addition next week.

Iowa did some real good things today. Stanzi was solid. Robinson ran tough and will only benifit by having Hampton in the backfield with him. The Defense was good today, and again they will get better if Prater is healthy. A very good all around game for the Hawks, but Ferentz usually doesn't show a lot in week one, as was the case today.

Should be a good football game, and I think it will be decided in the trenches. I think the "no touchdown" streak will end but the Hawks will be victorious by 2 scores.

2nd best? Please. Stop patronizing us. We'll be in a championship game at the end of our season.

We're going to kick you guys up and down that field next weekend. And tell KF we're not going to be tripped up by his tricks this time.

I think it will be a close game in the 4th quarter and whichever quarterback plays better down the stretch their team will win. Stanzi has proven he can lead game winning drives but so has Arnaud. The game being in Kinnick definitely doesn't help but don't expect ISU to just hand this game to Iowa. The biggest piece will be can we stop the run. If we can't we're in trouble.

Glad to see things haven't changed for Hawk fans. Drove across town to dinner, and heard two different guys call in to Miller and Zabel to call for the backup QB. One said that Stanzi better keep an eye on Vandenberg, the other said that the kid should have been in even before Stanzi's injury moment.

And one girl called in to say how much she loves Shonn Greene. Jon seemed to be struggling with the fanbase today. They were in fine form.

Ferentz and his whole staff has been around long enough, and are conservative enough, that there aren't many things that we haven't seen from Iowa. Iowa doesn't win on gimmicks, they win on being sound in every position.

ISU, while getting sound at all positions, is not there yet. But they have a playbook that certainly has many secrets to it. If the OL comes anywhere close to performing like they did the last few years against UI, we can open up a lot of plays with playmakers like Money Reynolds, Darius Darks, Sedrick Johnson, Colin Franklin and of course A Rob and AA.

Iowa's offense is not scary, but they are very good. We shall see what we get. Frankly I really don't care if we lose this game. We are supposed to. What I want to see is good execution and a LOT of improvement. KSU is where I want these guys in position to beat. It means so MUCH more than this trivial game.

In addition to turnovers, I think the key will be whether we can throw long. This week, we looked pretty good with the quick passes to WRs who then had other WRs block for them. I waited all night for SJ to give a fake and go long. He and our other receivers can do their part if we call the plays for them.

I laughed really hard when I read this and saw your avatar.

I think this is gonna be a battle. A 17-13 type of game. I really hope Herman can come up wit some creative plays that could sneak a long play in there. After watching most of the EIU-Iowa game today, there RB did look impressive. However, i'm pretty sure he was playing against a 4a school like Valley. EIU was small. Very small. They tackled horribly. I know we tackled bad last week but that was just brutal to watch today.

I'm all for going long, but I hope it's not sash making the reception...

Dude if Iowa **** stomps ISU again this year i could care less how the line plays.:biglaugh:
