Iowa State Vs. Iowa

I think the deciding factor could be the play of the d-lines. If we can put some heat on Stanzi and keep him from finding a comfort zone, and with it, some confidence, it'll greatly improve our chances. Plus, we need to give AA and the real A-Rob some decent opportunities early on so they can't pin their ears back on every play to stop the passing game.

Did we even try a screen or misdirection Thur. night? That could help slow down their pressure, or put us in a big hole if it's not done right.

And the latest contestant in the most annoying hawk fan is .... Krug! He's off to a slow start, but surprisingly enough, he used an old fanatic ploy of making fun of someone's grammar, first post no less! But then he had to follow it up with the lame and overly used, 'cool story bro' response. We'll see what this up and coming contender has in the next few days. Stay Tuned!

Cool story, brah.:jimlad:

Back to the discussion, I think you need only look at 2002 for how ISU can defeat Iowa next week. I think ISU needs to win the turnover battle, and get those turnovers on Iowa's side of the field. If that happens, I think we could be in for a heck of a game. If it doesn't, it may be tougher for ISU to hang with Iowa.

As for Iowa's performance today, I was actually very pleased with how we played considering all of the starters we were missing. To be honest, it was one of the better first games we have seen since Ferentz has been here. Few penalties, our defense dominated, and our zone blocking scheme actually looked decent.

I agree. I don't understand why anyone joins message boards to teams other than the team their a fan of in any situation.

When I posted on a San Diego Chargers message board, there was a Bronco fan who had about 2,000 posts on the Chargers board. Go look at the Bronco message board he was a part of, and he only had 1,000 posts. Made no sense what so ever.

They are trolls, looking to fight.

You guys forgot a pic, I'll help.

Its hard to think we will ever have a chance against them until we can score an offensive TD.

You have to be crazy to think you can beat a top 10 team when we havent scored against them in years.

With this series, all you can really do is wait till gameday. The victor might romp in a 20 point blow out or eke out a 2 point nail-biter.

You have to be crazy to think our offense isn't good enough to score on them this year. Our offense is better than their offense. Their defense is better than our defense. While their Defense should be the best squad on the team, I think our defense is good enough. Even if we don't win, it will be down to the wire in the fourth quarter. The game might come down to which kicker has the better game.

Please tell me you forgot a pirate. The last twelve quarters don't mean there is a special reason we can't score TDs against. Iowa has a good defense and it's great in the red zone but even so teams still score 50% touchdowns against them when they reach the red zone. I think our offense is good enough to get into the red zone, and it's silly to think that we won't score touchdowns because we haven't the last ten or so times we've been there against Iowa. That's statistically a Small Sample Size. We have good red zone weapons in Sed Johnson and Collin Franklin.

we need to shut down their TE's.... they have exploited our LB coverage the last 2 years.

also our interceptions have killed us and not being able to convert 3rd downs.

Herkykiller you're embarrassing. I'm convinced that you can't be older than 21 just based on your comments.

I'm sorry but you just sound like the typical college kid who runs his mouth but doesn't know the first thing about college football.

We certainly have a shot, but at the same time, most rational fans realize that they beat us good last year in the Jack and return a huge amount of their team from last year.

Logic would tell us that its going to be a big challenge, thats what I expect it to be.

Anythings possible.

If both teams play mistake free football, then Iowa wins by 14-17 pts IMO.

That basically NEVER happens though. Iowa was probably 10-14 pts better than us last year, but blew us out with all our mistakes. The year we won 23-3, Iowa made all the mistakes.

We can make a game of it if somehow we get some turnovers. The problem is... we are the more likely team to be committing mistakes and turnovers at this point.

As of right now, I'd predict Iowa winning 34-17. I think it will be a LONG day for our inexperienced front 7 on defense.

BTW I think our we can throw on their DB's this year, wasn't too impressed with them today.

Same here but I thought castillo looked decent and hyde got beat bad on that long pass but you have to remember they get their best DB Prater back next week along with 5 or 6 other starters.

Seriously?

How many career redzone TDs do Collin Franklin and Sed Johnson have?

I would say Franklin is a better red zone threat than Johnson, he is a lot more sure handed.
