We'll play physical and aggressive defense, too, and I bet we'll have 8 whistles in the first 5 minutes. Hope I'm wrong. Osun and Rob have their work cut out for them against Rebraca. He's really improved.

I didn't think Duke played physically or even well on defense. Iowa had a ton of quality looks, they just didn't make them. They will be facing a completely different monster on Thursday night. One thing Duke did really well was slow the game down on Iowa. The hawks want an up and down came and when you limit their possessions and slow the game down they get out of rhythm.

Iowa's great at creating contact when they have a path to the basket. Typically our defense doesn't allow the guards to get down hill. When we've been in foul trouble this year it's been mostly aggressive perimeter play, not fouling shooters.

Survive the first 10 minutes and I think we will be fine. Iowa loves to start fast. They may come out with their hair on fire but they aren't capable of defending for 40 minutes.

Soft is an understatement. If Iowans guards could make 3 feet floaters they would have won the game. Duke didn’t sprint back and establish their defense at all. It kind of worked to take Murray out of the game because Ulis and Perkins were shooting way too much. Also this Murray IS IN NO WAY SHAPE OR FORM the last one. He can go off, but I don’t think he’s capable of the consistency that Keegan brought game after game.

Heck ISU might even get blitzed a bit in a 10-15ish point loss and if it happens, flush it and move on.

Thought both teams were 10 ply soft defensively, but it was late af so probably that had something to do with it. Duke really didnt look too special from what i saw, but admittedly only small part of 1 game.

Does Rebraca weigh 200 lbs? Bob and Osun should be fine inside. Murray2 should be easy to take out of the gameplan, just like Murray1 last year. They will prob play zone; need to be patient and get inside, not just chuck open 3s. Going 2 for 27 from deep is a recipe for an L.

As long as you dont commit / get called for a million fouls and Iowa shoots 30 fts, this is a W.

Duke is decent defensively mainly because Roach is quick and can stay in front of guys and then they just have so much length that it is hard to score over them. Their offense every since they started going for so many one and done's is pretty easy to game plan for because it is really just a lot of iso or ball screens. I am waiting to see if Whitehead turns into the player he was supposed to be. THe broken foot and all the time off may still be limiting him. If he turns into the top 5 player he is supposed to be they will be a top 5 team.

Rebraca played surprisingly well against their bigs.
 
Iowa is #1 in the country in not turning the ball over, we are #1 in the country in forcing TO... Something has to give!

Make her move as much as possible on defense, which she doesn’t like to play, and tire her out.

Clark will hurt you more when she gets assists than points because she makes sure to get her points.

Hopefully, Clark will be tired from her game tonight and won't be a factor in the men's game on Thursday...;)

I'd love to get Rebraca in early foul trouble to keep their offensive rebounds down.

Only 2 times ever has Iowa St won football and basketball the same year in Iowa City.

I think Jaz has Murray and Holmes has Patrick - at least most of the time

I'm very curious how Iowa's guards will hold up to our pressure. Duke didn't pressure a lot on defense, they rely on positioning, length and athleticism to defend. Iowa almost doesn't play with a PG, they seem to not have a primary ball handler.

They played some zone last night and pressed a couple possessions - but I think we'll see a lot more of both. Everyone seems to press us, but I'm not sure why. It slows the game down and makes it low scoring which plays to our advantage. We'll need to make some 3s against the zone - Duke got open looks from 3 whenever they wanted.

I think if that happens its due to the following factors - and Iowa probably needs at least 2 of them:
- they are hot from 3 (at least 10 makes)
- they destroy us on the offensive boards (they get at least 45% of their misses)
- they shoot a ton of FTs (make at least 20)
- they don't turn the ball over (<12 TOs)

I was completely surprised last year when we shut down their offense and won pretty easily.

I have been surprised so far this year with ISU's toughness and win loss record after a rebuilding of roster.

Thus, I hope I am surprised again tomorrow night with an ISU win.

The McCafrey's are a perfect fit for the U of I, unearned arrogance and easy to root against.

I’m pretty pessimistic whenever we’re playing at Iowa City. But OTOH, they seem to not be as good offensively as the last few years, and defensively, I don’t think we’ve taken much of a step back from last season. I’m still not expecting to win, but I think it’s our best shot there in a few years.
