Iowa State Transfer/Recruiting Class 2023

Lipsey is currently the best talent on the team.
I'd agree with that. And did you know that as a 14 year old he high-jumped an incredible 21+ feet!!!

Usually it’s hyperbole when they say a player can leap out of the gym…

Tamin is our most valuable player***

However, we are bringing in much more talented pieces. Omaha, Milan, and even Keshon Gilbert are all potential NBA draft picks. The caveat to including Gilbert here is that he needs to reach at or close to his ceiling for that kind of consideration.

Since the world record for the high jump is just over 8 feet that is really impressive. I assume they meant long jump.

Would a dunk count as 3 points if the takeoff point is behind the arc? I would imagine he could achieve this with that leaping ability

Lipsey was a 5 star until he got hurt in football. I said “currently”. When the other guys arrive maybe he won’t be but that’s not cut and dried.

I would be curious to know the average number of visits a transfer takes. Seems like a lot visit a school (probably knowing it's the most likely) and then commit shortly after the visit. Obviously not 100%, but I'd be curious how common that scenario is.

He came back after knee injury his sophomore year at AHS and proceeded to lay the rail for the football team his junior year to the tune of 2000 total yards in 5 games. Didn’t play football his senior year. He pretty much put to rest any concerns there might have been about recovering from knee injury.

I don’t think I can remember anyone taking a kickoff back faster than he did for a TD. If you blinked, you would have missed it. My son played on the AHS as a junior when he was a freshman.

Not really disagreeing with this but I found it funny you had Gilbert on all lists except last 4 minutes. A guy with size, shooting ability and good defense seems like a good guy to have in the last 4 mins.
In my opinion, the best players to have on the court in crunch time can shoot at all 3 levels, create their own shot (especially at the end of the shot clock), shoot above 75% FT, and be a good/aggressive rebounder. Next years roster would seem to have around 5/6 that fit that criteria. Last year I'm not sure we had 1.

Yes it would and it’s physically not possible lol
Yeah, either the apex halfway to the hoop would have to be crazy high to still be at 10' on the way down, or the apex would have to be at the hoop, meaning the dude would land 20 feet behind the bucket lol. Would make for a serious highlight, but tough on your health I would imagine.

Not sure if this counts, but someone in our conference dunked from the 3pt line
