Iowa State - NCAA Violations

Approximately 2 impermissible phone calls per month for 3 years, out of 750,000 total.

Plus the 1400 calls that weren't documented properly when a recruit couldn't be reached. This is likely what would push it into the "major violation" category since we weren't monitoring our contacts properly. Bottom line, best case scenario the NCAA accepts our recommendation of 2 years probation and we carry on like nothing happened. Worse case scenario is one program is largely responsible, and that program may lose some scholarships. However, given how the NCAA has dealt with ISU in the past, the death penalty seems imminent.

KCCI reporting that regents Lang and Rastetter were informed last summer by Leath.

Lol why is this still being talked about? Nothing is going to change. It happened a few years ago, and recruiting has never been better since we've been taking action on ourselves.

Phone calls and txt messages. You got to be kidding me ! Who's the hawk bloat that dug this story up.

ZachsterPoke - Thx for the post. Unfortunately some on this blog did not give our program the benefit of the doubt. Who knows, it may work out badly, but until then our university is doing what is right and kept the confidentiality that is required in these circumstances. I am proud of ISU for self-reporting. These days this is an anomaly.

Who reads the Des Moines Register anymore? Serious question. They have to make faulty claims like this in order to stir the pot and get people to read their piece of **** newspaper.

how would anyone know a call was made if a contact wasn't made? do they seriously check all phone records? sheesh that would be time consuming.

Yes, that is seriously what they did, and it was time consuming. They stated it was an unprecedented audit of phone records.

Wonder if this part of the story will make a DM Register headline:

ISU’s case is also not currently on the docket to be heard in person in front of the infractions committee, the source said. That means a teleconference is more likely to be used for the sides to discuss the case, which suggests the case is considered less severe.

I am sure Randy & Bryce will give us all we need to know.
