Iowa State Capitol

I was in the Nebraska State capital building in January. It's pretty sterile compared to the Iowa building. It's also a confusing mess to try to get around in. The room numbering system makes absolutely no sense. I guess it is set up that way in the event of some sort of insurrection, you won't be able to find whomever you are looking for.
I supposed you were happy to have the police escort to your correct room then. Just a bugger to climb steps with those leg shackles on I would imagine. :)

I worked in a state office building near the Capitol during the floods of 1993. There was no water during that time and not many people had to come in but a co-worker and I did due to a time sensitive project. I don’t think we had much power either, no lights or air conditioning anyway, maybe we kept the lights off due to no air. Sat by a window to see.

Only porta potties near us were the west side of the Capitol, right in the sun. So I hiked over there right when the then Governor was in line. Even had the state trooper with him. Not sure there were a ton of security issues with a bunch of hot stinking kybos so maybe the trooper had to go too. It was a crazy time.

I would say that would be the ideal time for someone to take advantage of a person they didn't like. Let them go in and then shove the Porta potty over on the door. That would be a nasty thing to happen.

Our house in WDM was fine, on high ground and WDM didn’t lose water, but going to work was a shore. We were out playing with the kids when a bunch of sirens went off with the Racoon breaching the levee.
