Iowa new transfer?

But, but, but, Fran runs his program the right way! How is this possible?!?!?!?!?!?!

"Coach Francis called me right away......" LMAO

Funny Iowa fans bashed Fred for his allure with transfers, after the Hawks' DISASTEROUS 2011 attempt of bringing in a transfer in Anthony Hubbard, 26, who left the Iowa basketball team--lasting one month (after four years in prison for his involvement in an armed robbery in 2003), .

Out of 340+ D1 schools, Fred proved how valuable transfers can be, with many schools emulating ISU since.

Good luck Francis.....

Don't forget the transfers Basabe and Uthoff as well. Next season, Iowa could possibly be playing 3 starters that are transfers. But only Fred does this stuff, right? Whatever.

Can't wait to hear how they explain this as something totally different and okay.

First paragraph of the article does just that:
After two years at Pepperdine University, Jordan Baker got tired of losing and didn't see that changing. After finishing his sophomore season with the Waves, Baker decided he needed to find a new home to complete his college career.

Fails to mention the DUI in the article.

They already are over on HR. One post over there says this is completely different from Lucious, Babb, Clyburn, etc. situation at ISU. But they don't explain how?

IMO, this is worse than Lucious, Babb, or Clyburn. None of those 3 were in trouble with the law, correct?

Im not sure anybody outside of Izzo, Lucious and the MSU AD know what Lucious did. Clyburn just wanted to be closer to home. He played juco ball at marshalltown I think. Babb didn't want to be part of the tire fire that is PSU bball.

Silly folks on HN. Such pablum.

Yeah this hits both areas...a thug that's been in trouble and seeing a player coming from a weaker conference and how they won't do well in a real conference...this should play out well.

ISU students are all going to score a ton of drugs when Iowa's basketball team full of drug dealers comes to Ames this year. Hopefully no Hawkeyes murder any good people of Ames while they're there. It's the risk you take when you bring in all those thug transfers like Fran does.

Clyburn also made his move because of his pro future and Utah is in bad shape as a program. Babb was also on one of the worst major programs in the nation. The fact that Iowa fans commonly bring Clyburn and Babb up as some sort of thugs shows they have insane jealousy and hatred toward ISU. Their situations are absolutely no different than Uthoff's just Fred is a much better recruiter than Fran so he gets better transfers...luckily we can't bring race into it because they also thought even Scotty was a thug.

Just read the thread on HN. Silly. A few slams about him fitting in with "little sister," but no one even really acknowledging that they are doing exactly what so many of them criticize us for doing. Sooner or later, somebody has to bring up the "Fran does it the right way" comments. I hope it turns into a HN intramural fight about whether they should have gone this direction, not just a fight with CF posters there.

They'll never have the success with transfers Hoiberg has had because ultimately the kids have to say yes to Fran instead of Hoiball, and the most talented ones out there aren't going to settle for Iowa. But Fran is clearly trying to add transfers including some who have been in trouble with the law...and Uthoff must be a thug too since Babb, Clyburn, Scotty and all of our transfers were.

I could be wrong, but one difference is that Iowa has a schollie free to give the kid. That's different from already having a full roster, offering a transfer player anyway, and then when he accepts pulling the rug out from a HS recruit who'd already signed an LOI or nudging a current player out the door.

For the record, I couldn't give a Saturday morning crap how Fred runs his program, if you can win with transfers then win with transfers. And have no clue what Iowa fans mean when they say Fran does it "the right way."

But if you're looking for a difference in the two situations, this would be one.

Really disappointing thread over there. Half of it is debating whether 6'4" 195lb is big enough to play shooting guard for Iowa as if that's even a real question.
