Iowa/MSU

I'd also bet WVU couldn't get beat by Texas.

Making fun of MSU is just freaking stupid. They loses 7-10 games every year, and yet they have made it to the Sweet 16 in 7 out of the last 8 years. In those 8 years they have 4 Elite 8 appearances, and 3 final 4 appearances. All I know is that I don't want to see those guys in the NCAA tournament.

The parity in college hoops is startling this year, unlike anything I've seen. Watching KU get taken apart by an Oklahoma State team with losses to Missouri State and George Mason was stunning. Along with Michigan State losing to Nebraska at home. And on and on. Northwestern came oh so close to winning at Maryland.

Teams have to minimize their lulls/downturns as every team will go through it. I said prior to the Cyclone-Sooner game that you all were just 2 good weeks away from being right back in the conference title race and trending upward for NCAA seeding.

NCAA tournament could be more unpredictable than ever this year. The talent is being distributed across a wide swath of teams. Makes it more interesting to watch games, in my opinion.

Parity in college basketball. Much like football which is also getting that way quickly. Excepting a few outliers in both basketball and football. It's really why I thought the Iowa football hate was stupid. As I also think it's stupid to hate on either Iowa or ISU's basketball teams. UNI for that matter.

It get rivalry. I just don't get stupidity and hatred. Internet I guess.

ISU fans don't hate the University of Iowa or even the sports teams. We hate their fans. That's the difference.

Well, that's a pretty blanket statement. For example, I really don't hate ISU, the institution. Excepting I don't really care for what I perceive as most university's liberal bias, and this certainly isn't exclusive to ISU. Nor do I hate all ISU fans. I don't care for the one's that make comments that are inappropriate when I travel to Ames to see Iowa play ISU. But I mostly ignore them. I understand that the fanbase is smaller at ISU than at Iowa, but the percentages of ****** bags is probably equal given the sample sizes.

I've witnessed ****** baggery on both sides. Again, I suspect the percentage of ****** baggery is equal, just as it would be in any population. Likely the percentage is greater among internet message board posters.

I go down to the Ozarks to trout fish with a huge ISU fan and donor. Retired CEO of a multi state engineering firm. At the time of year we go, usually ISU in in the BB tournament. And until recently, Iowa wasn't. We watch ISU, and everyone cheers for ISU. He is the only ISU fam in our group. On the flip side of this, he follows Iowa football with the same attitude as most IOwa fans follow ISU basketball. So maybe my experience is different.

So where I stand is that to accomplish what Iowa did in football this season is pretty remarkable given what a FBS faces that is located in Iowa. And it is also pretty remarkable what ISU and UNI have accomplished in basketball, and what Iowa is starting to accomplish.

I'll go further. Travel to Minnesota for a football game can be a sometimes revealing experience into how ignorant some humans really are. But again, I understand they're football rivals, and I'm seeing a concentrated amount of the small minority of their fan base.

I was just going to say this. I have a couple of friends who graduated from Iowa. I truly want their teams to succeed when they don't play ISU. Of course, that is all so easily washed away once I come in here and see the usual suspects cluttering up all of our threads with their chest pumping "Go Hawkeye" banter. Honestly, if it was for those douches on this site, I probably would look at Iowa as any other team I don't really care one way or another about in the NCAA.

This is a rival team's site, you can't possibly expect us to heap praise on the team can you? And quite frankly, I feel any ISU fan talking **** on their sites is equally as douchey.

This is the instate rivals board right? Plus, I don't talk much trash and if I do it is in jest. Actually, I find most of the Hawk fans that post on here are pretty reasonable. I actually like to get the opposing sides viewpoint all the time in sports or politics or when making a consumer purchase. I think that is wise as you get away from the rose colored glasses that may blur your vision.

This. I have some friends who are on athletic teams at Iowa, and they're great people and I wish them great success. Hell I even have some good friends who ACTUALLY attend the U of I who are good people. It's the mouth-breathing tavern hoks that I, nor nobody can stand.

i didn't play/coach or work for the Chicago Bears am I not allowed to cheer for them?? Iowa state has annoying fans too.

What's the record for closed threads due to flaming in a week's time? Seems like a lot more ****, vinegar, and trolling over the last couple of weeks, than what I've noticed before. Even by CF standards. Lol. I'm assuming there has to have been some pretty insane football meltdowns, and I just missed them. I blame the current upsurge on Hawk fans coming out of the woodwork with their bball not sucking. Although, most of the closed threads seem to be Clone fans getting mean. Still going to blame the Hawks though.

Per Kenpom, Iowa is 11th in defensive efficiency and Iowa State is 113th. Plus, Iowa's cumulative schedule (all opponents combined) is ranked tenth in offensive efficiency. I think it's safe to say Iowa's defense is much, much better than Iowa State's.
These are the facts, and they are not undisputed
