Running Back William Lowe from Cleveland verbally committed to the Hawkeyes yesterday.

He is 5'9" tall and weighs 165 lb. Iowa won a tough recruiting battle with Akron for his services.

Should we be quaking in our boots yet???

He's from Gleneville Ohio - same school that produced Ginn.

While he may not have the stars, I think he's an excellent get for the Hawks. The more running backs the better.

According to what I have read, he's projected at corner and has offers from NC, NC State, Indiana, WVU, and several MAC schools (per Rivals).

Man that IS a good get if he's from the same school as Ginn! We should get after some of these Iowa Falls basketball players before they go out of state...they're from the same school that produced Nick Collison!

I don't get this guys. I am as big of Hawk hater as most out there, but since when did we have such good recruits that we could laugh at other peoples 2 star recruits?!?! Our class is filled w/ 2 stars. If this guy would have signed w/ us there would be posts that read,

"he would have had a ton of big time offers but his grades were shaky. He got that taken care of so we got a steal!"

or

"Great find. Looks to have good speed and can project well as a cornerback. Looks to be a diamond in the rough type of player. Good job of finding him by GC"

I'm not making fun of the player (although he does look like he has the size of a young Webster), just the fact that the first thing SouthernHawk said in his defense was that he went to the same high school as Ted Ginn.

Bob Sanders wasn't a big guy. I think he turned out alright.

Same with Ellis Hobbs.

Hey now, we have a solid team this year! No one close to a D-1 propect though. FWIW, Nick's younger brother Michael is on the team. He's not Nick in any way, but he's solid.

I agree with your logic though. Just had to put in a plug for my IF-A Cadets!

I'm not saying he'll be the next Teddy Ginn, I'm saying that he's coached by the same coaches (who happens to be Teddy Ginn's father).

It doesn't hurt.

bob sanders and ellis hobbs werent running backs... guarantee this kid will hardly see the field in his 4 years, and if he does he's going to get killed cuz hes so small

You're right on with this. Fan bias.

Alright, more 5'9" or 5'8" CB for us to go against. Too bad Blythe is gone, we'll just have to lob it up to Marquis.

Clones85 essentially put this thread to rest. Let's look at our pick-ups before casting stones. How about Dustin Land? He's a bigger player, but a 2* and his rivals ranking is 5.1 (Lowe's is 5.4). We beat out Fla. Atlantic out for him. Both projected to play DB as opposed to their other positions (QB and RB).

And I question why we'd think Lowe won't see the field in 4 years given his size. He's 165 now. I bet he won't be in 2012...or 2009 for that matter.

Personally, I am surprised to see onem of the elite, all-time great programs in DI football, and out annual Superbowl competitor lower themselves enough to take a player with only 2 stars.

Strange days, indeed.

he's too small we don't want him, and he'll probably just get hurt or since he's going to Iowa he'll probably just get arrested for asault or something, I still think its funny how we cyclone fans make fun of the hawkeyes for all their arrests cause we've had Jason Berryman ( if only he couldve played 4 years he wouldve destroyed the sack record at isu and he wouldve been a 1st day draft pick for sure) and michael Taylor who couldve really helped the basketball team so much its not even funny how bad our guards are besides diante garret being descent. And we've had a lot of other arrests in the past too
