Iowa City Trip

Oasis is good, catch a show at the Englert, there is an axe throwing joint on the se side, film scene shows art films, if you are downtown at night, especially over the weekend, expect to see hundreds of bargoing students (dont recommend), Big Grove brewery is nice but loud, although there is outside seating with firepits, parking there is a pain. The Sanctuary is a low key bar with lots of craft beers. Stanley art museum is nice, reopened less than a year ago.

A few of the restaurants mentioned are definite winners (Oasis, Wig & Pen, Short's). An alternative to Shorts is Stella, which is just west of Kinnick on Melrose. It's mostly the same burger lineup (same ownership), but it can be easier to get a table than Short's depending on the time of day; also has patio seating available. If you want Mexican food, you can't beat La Regia on Hwy 1. Just stellar tacos. Breakfast food, Hamburg Inn or Bluebird Diner are both great.

I haven't been to the vine in years. How's that going?

Have to go to IC for a bachelor party this summer. Planning on wearing ISU gear every waking moment, but still anticipating wanting to end it all as soon as I step foot in the suckhole

There are some solid mentions given.
Big Grove is fun and the food is good.
The Wig and Pen is the best pizza in Iowa City.
For Mexican, go to La Regia. This is where every Latino construction crew goes for lunch.
Look up where the Island Vybz food truck is parked. They have great Jamaican food.
There are some good restaurants out at the Iowa River Landing area, too.

For entertainment, you can go to all the hot spots, Scheels, Trader Joe's, or Menard's.

Don’t be that guy.

I am in Iowa City several times a month. It's honestly not that out of place to run into Iowa State clothing. Oasis is another great choice. Iowa River Landing does have fun stores and 30 hop. The Vine is what it always was...

Lived in Iowa City for 6 years. I can tell you right now that you need to eat at Oasis (https://oasisfalafel.com/). It's so good. I'm not sure two of my kids would have survived without their hummus. It was basically all they ate.
I used to live in eastern IA and could buy Oasis hummus at HyVee. I have yet to find another hummus as good. Their falafel is great too.

If you're referring to the original Vine, it was the same hole in the wall bar it always was the last time I went (but that's probably been at least five years at this point). I loved going there to watch the Cubs in the 2016 playoffs. I've never gone to the newer one on the Coralville strip.

I was in a store the other day in Iowa city with Iowa State garb and a person told me they were happy to see someone wearing Iowa State apparel.
