Iowa -7 vs ISU

Hadn't seen that. Care for a signature bet? I'll take Iowa -3.5. Good line for you.

Lol That is bad.

I'm not normally one to predict a W for the Clones at Kinnick but I think they go over there this year and beat Iowa at their own game. If Iowa State an contain the run with a 3 man front I think the Hawks could be in for a long day.

I don't know if we will go with a 3 man front. Quite possible that we roll out a 4 and see what if they can pass. Our experience is quite a bit better in the front 7 this year and our Dline has a little depth than last year. May bounce back and forth. See if baby Ferentz can get the right plays called.

Talent is there for you guys to do that. If Kempt is as good as advertised, I wouldn't me surprised at all by your prediction.

Id say we're going 4 man front against Iowa although Wisconsin did a 3 man and Iowa had no answer.

I would be shocked if we don't go with a 3 man front as plan A. If you can contain the run game with that scheme you can really handcuff a run first offense. Iowa always has a big offensive line but this also hinders their zone blocking scheme, especially against a 3 man front (see the WI game last year) the o-lineman couldn't get to the second level fast enough and the WI LB had a field day against the run.

Last year the biggest issue we seemed to have (although we had major issues in the game everywhere) were the short dump passes. The 3 man would shut it down better. It does raise some havoc with the zone blocking. Iowas stretch plays basically prey on lineman neutralizing the dline and creating a basic single cutback for the back. With the 3 man front, it gives the appearance of extra cutbacks at the line, but allows the back 8 to read the play better and attack open holes. If the line stays tight it actually plugs itself up. If it goes downfield, it blows up the cutbacks.

If bailey and Lima play the way they can, Iowa will struggle offensively.

The 3 man front would also allow the hybrid DB/LB to shade double coverage on Fant.

Iowa's OL is going to be a huge question mark as a unit. Lost their two best lineman and two of their returning starters are suspended or coming off a suspension. I bet we throw a bunch of different things at them but I like the idea of being mostly in a 3 man front

Using the word "Historic" in front of Kinnick Stadium should be worth at least 3 points.... Pretty sure most hawk fans would say that.
