iOS 8 review/thoughts

But he guy at the phone store told me yesterday the 6 series is so much better than the 5S, and I shouldn't waste my money getting a 5S. I got the 5S and am glad I did.

How many people have got the 6? A guy in my office got the plain 6, not the 6+ and it's enormous. Even worse given the otterbox case he has. The thing is ridiculous. Can't imagine running or biking with the thing. Really couldn't carry it in my pocket either.

King, what did you have you upgraded from? I'm not sure I see the point in moving from a 4s to 5s. really thinking of going away from iPhone altogether.

I had an I phone 4. It was 3 1/2 years old and getting hard to hear and the battery had went to hell. The only reason I updated is because my old phone was because of those issues. I look at the 6 and it was big. I have to have a good case and by the time I put a Outter box on it, the phone was freaking huge. I told the sales guy that and he got a little pissy. I also went with the Lifeproof waterproof case because they are a smaller case than the Otter Box.

I have an Iphone 6 4.7 inch. I put the smaller otterbox case on it. Its larger than the iphone 5 by a good amount but it certainly doesn't seem to be too big.

It's a little conspiracy theorist of me I realize, but it seems that the iOS updates have a 2 year phone lifecycle in mind. I had my 3 and when the IOS that came out ahead of the 4s, battery life went to hell. Now the same holds with my 4s and IOS8. This time, it seems that the update turned on about every "tracking" app on the phone, and I've been busy trying to pare those down. I'm sure that's a major factor. But even knocking that back, I used go to bed at night with the phone unplugged and lose a few % of battery life. The past week, it's anywhere from 25-50.

iPhone 6+ here and not a bug in sight (knock on wood). I used the betas on my 5 and the bugs were resolved much quicker this time around than in the iOS 7 betas. The new 6 is a great phone and the 6+ is also nice, though a bit large for most people. The cameras are great (especially for video) and the screens are beautiful, definitely a nice evolution.

I'm very happy with my 5s. The iOS8 seems fine ... but setting up iCloud, sharing has been a pain.

I love hearing Android people talk about how big of a piece of junk there phone is after 6 months.

Not me...I have the HTC One (M7) and could get a new phone in December. I might feel different in two months but right no I see now reason to upgrade. My phone is outstanding. If I were to upgrade though...no doubt in my mind I will to to the HTC One (M8)!

I have the HTC One (M8) and it is a great phone. I look forward to the new Android 'L' operating system being released this fall, although I hope its a smoother rollout than iOS8.

My wife had an iphone for a long time (3, then 3gs) but she was jealous of my Android device so she switched.

I personally love this battle between iOS and Android. One gets features, then the other adds it, so I look forward to the Apple releases to see what sort of technology they dream up as eventually it will come to Android. I think Apple does a good job innovating. At the same time....it seems that Android comes up with some really cool ideas (widgets, nfc, etc) and Apple takes a few years to add those features.

So...as an Android user, I like to hear what the iPhone users like about their phones. Hopefully in the future some similar features will come to me!

Early Androids I completely agree. The HTC Lightning had about 1 good year before it started to lag. My Galaxy S3 is still very quick after 2-1/2 years. I recently upgraded but still use the S3 for a WiFi device and I've never had an issue with non-mobile websites or lagging.

I guess it all depends on what you use your phone for.

The best feature that I'd like to see come to Android phones is the switch to silent. Sometimes that would be much more convient than using the rocker.

Other than that, the iPhone 6 looks exactly like a galaxy s4 with a round button instead of rectangular.

Lulz. I love watching the apple crowd talk about 'new features' that android had 3 years ago.

There's gotta be a way to turn this quip into a joke about you forgetting to pick up your kids. There just has to be.

The biggest problem is your battery is bad. 2 years of daily cycling is a long time to expect the battery to last. If you can replace the battery your problem should be solved.

A switch to silence Android owners? I could get behind this.
