Goal #1 is get to the tournament
Goal #2 is to get a good seed
Goal #3 is the Big 12 championship

This hurt #2 a little and #3 quite a bit, but doesn't even touch our #1 goal.

That seems exactly backwards to me...

IMHO goal #1 is (or should always be) a conference title. That means so much more than just making the tourney.

I think we really panicked in the 1st half when they went on their huge run, hence all the quick 3-point shots. Not exactly how a championship-caliber team ideally responds.

This appears to not be Fred's smartest team and we know fred hates to use timeouts the first half, but when you give up a 20-1 run, you are not playing smart ball

It's just frustrating to hear the players say the same exact thing after every loss. Not that I'm going to be a drama queen and throw around words like unacceptable, it just pisses me off to hear them say the same thing over and over. Hopefully this time they will actually learn from it.
They will until the next loss.

You mean the part where they came back from down 19 and were down by 3 with 10 seconds left and shooting an open three that would have tied the game?

I mean the first 33 minutes of the game. The comeback didn't start until after they began pressing with 7 minutes left.

I agree with you there completely. I was impressed with the fight that they showed toward the end, but was also frustrated that they showed none of that for 3/4ths of the game, and if they had just showed up to play, they would have run Tech out of the gym.

Personally the conference title isn't a big deal for me, I would rather make a deep run in the tourney.

You like that quote? All it tells me is how mentally weak this team is.

Most of the fans had the game chalked up as a win and we're a lot older and should know better. Wisdom comes from experience and experience is what you get when you don't have wisdom. Every player contributed to the slow start and most everyone contributed to them getting back in it. They're learning.

A better question is who the heck are the team leaders? If you had to name 1 guy or even 2 guys who are they? I'm not seeing any leadership at all.

It's frustrating to hear quotes like that from Monte. Yeah, us fans are super impressed with all of the comebacks this team has had, but why not come out with that mentality and just destroy them? Waiting until a trash team like Tech gets up by 19 before we do anything about it is pathetic.

Perhaps part of the problem was the players thought they were playing a "trash team." I think we have to give Tech some credit for playing a very good game. If they continue to play like that, they will win some more games this year. If not, they and their fans will still have this one game where everything came together. We should have won this game, but they wee plenty good enough to take advantage of our subpar performance.

Defense is an issue...but the bigger issue is how we do not adjust when our 3 pointers are not falling.

You would think when you shoot nearly 20% from 3 for the game, you would try to work it into the inside more. You got the bash brothers in Mckay and Hogue down there that know how to score down low.

Bring in Niang and you have decent 2 point scorers. However, our team is blind to this for whatever reason.
BDJ has a nice ten foot shot also.

Niang talking about games that are gimmees in the Ames Trib articles explains a lot to me about his play recently.

These guys are not professional athletes. With 18-22 year-olds in a long season, few teams "bring it" every night. I hate losing to the worst team in the conference, but that will happen when the conference is this tough and you don't have elite talent.
