Please no politics, I'd like to find a quality insurance company that does not outsource overseas, a small step I'd like to take. I figure I'm safe moving my banking from Bank of America to a credit union or local bank? Dish Network/DirecTv is probably not solvable other than going to *gulp* mediacom.

I would like to do what I can, I understand there are things you can't purchase that don't meet this criteria.

Any suggestions for WDM?

I use Liberty Mutual. No local offices, at least none I'm aware of. Fortunately, I've never had to deal with them beyond premiums and coverages - no claims.

But everyone I've talked to seems to be state-side.

Unlike Dell. Whoof! I was on the phone for about 80 minutes a week or two ago - and spoke with half of India.

Yeah, I've had the same experience with dell and had a head-vs-wall experience with Dish Network.

I'm pretty sure Farm Bureau doesn't outsource. Local, WDM company with offices all over the midwest.

Principal does no overseas outsourcing of it's call centers. This includes Principal Bank.

Do you know if they do with IT, accounting, finance at all? I do have an account there, just haven't used it much.

Sounds like a couple of places at least to check out for insurance, I should hope so given Des Moines' status in insurance, haha

I don't think State Farm outsources. They have been fantastic to me. Very good to a long term account. I have bought a pickup and motorcycle in the last year and no one touched their quote.

My dad is a Marine vet, I wonder if I can get a quote through USAA, I know they always seem to kick butt on customer satisfaction.

Consumer Reports:

1) Amica
2) USAA
3) Chubbs
4) Farm Bureau FS
5) Hartford

Pretty good for Farm Bureau

My husband worked for Liberty Mutual's company in Des Moines before we were moved to Colorado to work for their company out here (Colorado Casualty). The name of the Iowa office is Hawkeye Security. They are in West Des Moines by Jordan Creek. Outstanding company.

One more thing I would like to add. Liberty Mutual is a privately held company and has never accepted a penny of government money. They are solid and have recently purchased SafeCo out of Seattle- an extremly large company- and they paid cash.
