Going to finally get a 42" LCD flat screen. Has anyone purchased a Best Buy house brand Insignia TV? It is a 120hz for $598 right now. Comes with a two year warranty. It's either that or a Vizio from Sams. The Best buy TV definitely has more features. Obviously with this budget I am not going to get the best but I'm OK with good. Whatever I get will be tons better than the 32" tube I have now. I thought about plasma but the reflection from the glass drives my wife crazy. If anyon has found a better deal let me know as I am probably buying tonight. I have looked at American, Sears, NFM, Walmart, Sams, K-mart, Best Buy.

I really think the Insignia is a good buy for the money. The 2 yr warranty is also great and it is an in-home warranty meaning they come to your house to fix it if anything is wrong. I have an LCD and Plasma. I think the Plasma looks better but I also have it in the basement where I can control the light (reflections) a lot more.

We bought a 42' Insignia at the end of June and haven't had any issues with it. I realize that's not a very long trial but I figure if you're going to hate your TV you will hate it right away. It's a good price on a good TV.

An engineer with the NC public television (UNC-TV) told me that Insignia is the Best Buy brand name for Zenith, meaning that Best Buy slaps an Insignia label on a Zenith then sells it. Zenith has been and still is a good company. I have an Insignia that works great, although its not a big fancy HD TV.

Yup. Learned this when we first got DirectTV. As the installer was trying to sync up the remote to the TV, there was no code for Insignia, but Zenith worked just fine.

I bought a 46" Insignia LCD about a year ago and I love it. We have it in a pretty bright room and it looks great. When we bought it the Besty Buy guys told us it was made with LG parts. Maybe he was lying to us, as people above are saying its a Zenith. Honestly, I don't know too much about tvs, but we have loved our Insignia. The only thing that made me mad was they droppped the price 200 bucks about a month after we bought it. :skeptical:

I bought a 26" Insignia HDTV about a year ago, and I've been totally happy with it.

Some of the other 'premium' brands looked a bit better in the store, but to me it's not worth the 30-50% higher cost.

I'd completely agree. You can notice the difference when you're standing there looking at them. But when its up on the wall, 99% of people would have no idea of the differences.

My roommate bought an Insignia a year ago. He said he was told that it was the Best Buy brand name for LG though. But he has a history of not knowing everything.

When it's on, it works great. But sometimes the picture doesn't appear right away so we need to turn it off and on a few times before the picture appears.

I overheard yesterday at a local appliance store that LG bought out Zenith. Hard to keep track of who owes who anymore.

Sorry JD720, didn't see your info already had it covered.

I work with a guy that moonlight at best buy & he said it is exact same as LG. Also this is probably the only TV you will find that is made in USA if that is important to you.

I bought a 37" Insignia LCD over a year ago and it still works great. I bought it a month before they switched them all to 2 year warrantys so I just got one. There's no bells and whistles but a very good TV for the price.
