Injuries?

Not trying to hijack completely but I dont feel this question deserves an entire thread all to itself...Did we burn any redshirts yesterday off of true frosh?
The participation report says that Collin Bevins played, but I'm not sure that's accurate. Other than that, Cory Morrissey burned his, and T.J. Mutcherson didn't.

Sam Richardson played well.

Anyone else concerned about our LB depth? Missing on Mattison, Bennett, Smith, and Adam P. has left us a bit thin after Knott and Klein move on.
No. George and Miller will start next season (along with Broomfield and Morgan), and the two freshmen, White and Seeley, will come off redshirts. We'll be fine.

I'm just glad that after this week we have two bye weeks to heal up.

I just as easily could have listed 2 guys that have never played as "depth" last year as well.
Yeah. Like George and Miller before this year.

If I were going to be "concerned", I might worry about offensive tackle, where two seniors graduate. Or defensive tackle, where four seniors will graduate. I'm just saying that not going to make up reasons to be "concerned" about a spot that will have four seasoned upperclassmen back to handle the rotation.

I am concerned about the Tackle spot as well, although we have Litchenburg and it is only two spots. DT is a concern on defense, but at least the depth is not made up of redshirting freshmen.

Overall, this a "peak" year imo, which is why I really wished we had a schedule like Iowa's.

I watched the Baylor Game vs. SMU, and late in the game the announcers mentioned how no one had cramps during a very hot night. They went on to say the coach has punishments (running more at practice) for anyone cramping up during a game, as they are expected to keep themselves hydrated before and during games. I noticed coach Rhodes mention that some of the Iowa State players had cramps. I wonder if there attention to hydrating is paying big dividends? It seemed so tonight.

No one has mentioned the condition of the trumpet player who vomited just before the band took the field for the pregame show. He had to be helped to the bleachers where he continued to barf. Will we have a full trumpet section going into the Iowa game? Inquiring minds want to know. (do I need the sarcasm pirate)

ps hope the kid is okay

Sounds like a hangover to me!

Huh? Miller has never seen significant game action at LB has he? And he was running 3rd string at a scrimmage earlier this year, sorry as far as "seasoned" upperclassmen at LB, at this point George is all we will have back and he is not playing at the level of Klein or Knott yet. I guess Broomfield and Morgan if you count them but the truth is they may get listed as LB but they are obviously DBs much moreso than LB. There is a reason we are recruting JC LBs, the position is untested after JK and AK graduate, at this point at least.

George did show me that he deserves to be out there. So we got that going for us, which is nice.

I think the point was that after this year he will have taken a few years to learn the game from two of the best LBs in the nation. That counts for something. It's not like he's coming in as a true freshman completely blind.

Exactly. Right now Miller already has more experience than Knott and Klein did going into their first start.

Just as importantly though, I've simply come to trust this coaching staff to have a solution.

Bevins played quite a bite and did a good job.

I've been saying for years we need more depth in the trumpet line. Perfect example.
