Initial CyHawk Game Predictions

To get this thread back on track do you think Campbell looks at tape from the Purdue game last year or did the Big Ten confiscate all the film on that since Purdue basically cheated to win?

Agree. It is a sport that is dropping in popularity. Its more regional too. Why the midwest has teams but basically no southern teams have it. The population in the south would have to have a total introduction to who he is, and even many in the midwest (who are wrestling fans and that is the majority) would also.

Trust me, alot of people in the south still know who Dan Gable is and what he did in wrestling.

The wrestling fans yes. My oldest just graduated HS, he did the national circuits and everything, in those circles, people knew who Gable was. Most people I've met are clueless to the sport outside of the ones who have been deep in the sport one way or another.

But yet you are thinking that more people know who Seneca wallace is? He last played for ISU in 2002 and was a career backup that barely ever played in Seattle. I doubt many people know who Seneca is, where Gable at least has some national recognition and it wouldn't take long to go over his resume to get people acquainted with Gable's accomplishments either.

And started in Cleveland, and started in green bay. I believe there was another area, not including Seattle, where he started at least a game. The idea is to also make sure they side with the home team, you can't guarantee that with Gable either.

I like Stone Cold Steve Austin as the picker.

A guy with 800 passing attempts in the NFL is going to be more widely known than Dan Gable. Like that's not an opinion that's a fact

They have to be really old or give a **** about wrestling.

You sure?

But once they gave the intro, ncaa and Olympic champion, world champion, arguably the most, or one of the most, successful coaches in ncaa history, represents both schools.

Significantly more impressive than a guy who played at ISU and was a backup in the NFL

I am, have had quite a bit of people mention him when they find out I'm from Iowa. He is more famous than people realize. That Sportscentury thing they did about him really helped too I feel.

The resume isn't what it's about. It's how many people know who he is.

Sure, but that really brings it back to does it matter?

Now, think about that Sportscentury thing, I never saw it or know of it, but what team (Im assuming here) was mostly featured in it? Who is Gable most affiliated with? You need to understand that they are here for ISU, not Iowa. Gable is considered to be Iowa to the vast majority who have name recognition of him.

Every time I tell someone I'm from Iowa they mention Seneca Wallace
Dan Gable mentions on Joe Rogan = multiple
Seneca Wallace mentions on Joe Rogan = 0
