In the spirit of CFH, what surgeries have you had?

I’ve now have had two spells of abdominal pain in the last month. Both after over-eating. I try to fast until dinner a few days a week and I though the pain was from just being too full. Someone told me about gallbladder issues and I’m convinced this is the issue. Planning on going to the doctor next week, I don’t feel like it is something I need to go to urgent care for.

If anyone has experience with having their gallbladder removed or dealing with gallstones please let me know.

I mean real talk here.. how much are you eating as your one meal a day? Also what kind of food? What are you drinking in between meals?

I was convinced I had similar issues when I transititoned to one meal a day and just drinking more water and less soda and eating slightly healthier kinda made those go away to be honest.

Don't jump right to the gallbladder being the issue without getting check out. However, here's some gallbladder disease information.

Diagnostics can be difficult if they only do an ultrasound. Ultrasound will show gallstones but not chronic gallbladder disease. HIDA scan would be the better method to check gallbladder function.

If it's the problem and you end up getting it removed, you'll instantly be relieved of the pain. However, your body will not be able to process fatty foods and you'll get the Hersey squirts soon after eating. Just takes time to figure out what you can eat or quantity to avoid GI issue.

As I've gotten older If I don't drink enough water I get nasty acid reflux. Now I drink about 100 ounces a day and I feel like twice the person.

I do inermitant fasting nearly every day. I rarely eat until 5:30 and have never had any pains other than hunger, but that hardly happens any more.

If there is any chance it could be appendicitis, I wouldn't wait and would see a doctor asap.

I just had my second discecotmy at my L5/S1 just a little over two weeks ago. Had the first less than 10 years ago, so it feels a little disheartening to have it again so soon. I've also had a splenectomy and a appendectomy. Lots of "ectomy's" for only being 38.

Yeah so both times I gorged myself, first time pulled pork sandwiches. Today was pizza, less of a gorge but still stuffed. Today was a good reminder to take it slow when it comes to eating. I’ve always been a fast eater. I was 191 lbs this morning and I’m 6’2.5”. Not overweight but just under.

I don’t have pain concentrated to one side and have it does go away after an hour or two but it is intense for a little bit. My sister had her gallbladder removed which I actually forgot about until today. I’m assuming it runs in the family or I’m more prone to this issue.

I mean I am not a doctor but I think it's just overeating man and those foods aren't exactly conducive to feeling well.

Gallbladder and gallstone issues I think you'd be considering ER right now and not posting on CF but that's just my kind of ignorant position

Yeah I do feel like a doctor might say don’t be a dummy eating like crap. This makes me feel a little more sane. I’ll do the doctor visit before I jump to thinking surgery. Thanks

How old are you? At 35 I became lactose intolerant and it basically gasses me up from bloating up like I ate 3 meals at once. 35 is a common time for males to acquire that.

Not a doctor...but about 15 years ago I experienced similar issues after eating fast food...normal amount. Ended up that I had to have my gallbladder removed...haven't had any of those symptoms since.

Trust me I've been there and felt like I HAD to have an issue. The only time it was close was when I went to the ER because I was projectile vomiting and burst 80-90% of the blood vessels in my face. Like my face was a giant bruise after a big eating binge. They didn't want to remove the gallbladder so they gave me an IV and waited a bit and I haven't needed it to be removed.

I would still go to the doctor to see but not asking about surgery. They'll know best IMO

Just had my second ACL and meniscus surgery on the same knee this December. They decided to throw in a micro fracture for free! It has been a rough recovery.

Never discount the obvious diagnosis. Aliens, man, aliens.

In 2001 I had my Happiness and Freedom removed, courtesy of a Marriage procedure.

Gallbladder is high-ish on the right side. Appendix is lower on the left side. (ETA "high-ish" means a little lower than the bottom of your pecs, close to your diaphragm. Appendix is more bellybutton level). If it's gall stones, you can manage that for a while by eliminating greasy foods. Its unlikely that your gallbladder would burst and lead to any emergent issues, just feels like a horse kicked you until the greasy food works through.

I had my gallbladder removed laproscopically about 12 years ago. Surgery is simple, but recovery takes a while. Even with the small incisions, they are going through your abs. Don't sneeze in the first two days post surgery, it hurts like hell.

I never had the gastrointestinal issues after removal that some do.
