In-state recruiting

Well, It's obvious from the star ratings that Iowa will win the in-state recruiting battle this year. One thing I have noticed though, and this is not a flame towards Iowa, just food for thought, is that looking back on past recruiting classes it seems that Iowa does better w/ lower rated in state players than highly rated ones. Obviously Larcen is the first name that comes to mind but Chris Felder & Ted Bentler were both the top players in the state their respective years and haven't appeared on the depth chart. I realize that Bentler still has time, but they started a D-Line of mostly freshmen last year and he didn't crack the two deep. And then you of course have the Gallerys and Dallas Clarks, who were unknowns coming in and after position switches have gone on to become some of the best players of the Ferentz era. This doesn't seem to apply as much to their out-of-state recruits. Also, we seem to do pretty well whenever we get a highly rated in-state recruit (Blythe, Brant, Meyer, Carper). Maybe a few more in-staters should try their luck w/ us.

We start out playing Toledo in football, and the Hawkeyes start out playing Toledo in basketball. I think we have the tougher assignment.

I don't think Bentler has any more time to crack the line up at Iowa, he transferred to Army this off season to join his brother.

Meh...

Iowa has been getting the star recruits...Iowa State has been beating them on the field.

I'll take the wins over stars any day. :)

Iowa fans think their 7-5 unranked team were world-beaters, and ISU is a mere knat.

23-3....what a butt whipping

Teach your stud LB not to go offsides and you might have won the last one. I'm pretty sure we could **** a brick in a bowl game if we wanted to as well.

While you point to some busts for Iowa, they have had some higher ranked guys pan out too...Tim Dwight for example...so you would likely have to do a more thorough analysis to back up your point. On the other hand, if you just wanted to dig them, I'm OK wiht that.

A nice brown one in Tx last December, but who was watching!

Hey folks...wouldn't it be nice to round up all of the Hawkeye contributors on this website and ban their arses?

Why are they here? I don't want to waste time responding to their space-eating trash...

Would love a cyclone-only board
