Well, It's obvious from the star ratings that Iowa will win the in-state recruiting battle this year. One thing I have noticed though, and this is not a flame towards Iowa, just food for thought, is that looking back on past recruiting classes it seems that Iowa does better w/ lower rated in state players than highly rated ones. Obviously Larcen is the first name that comes to mind but Chris Felder & Ted Bentler were both the top players in the state their respective years and haven't appeared on the depth chart. I realize that Bentler still has time, but they started a D-Line of mostly freshmen last year and he didn't crack the two deep. And then you of course have the Gallerys and Dallas Clarks, who were unknowns coming in and after position switches have gone on to become some of the best players of the Ferentz era. This doesn't seem to apply as much to their out-of-state recruits. Also, we seem to do pretty well whenever we get a highly rated in-state recruit (Blythe, Brant, Meyer, Carper). Maybe a few more in-staters should try their luck w/ us.
