I'll gladly eat crow...

Hilton was so impressive for the big snow storm and no students. We have had way bigger and better and louder crowds. However, givin the everything, I was shocked how good we looked on TV

I was there--wasnt bad attendance considering lack of students and the weather IMO. Crowd was able to get loud when needed.

Huge win and a big confidence builder for the underclassmen.

Offense wasn't good, but to be fair Houston is really good on defense and their guys were tenacious at and around the rim.

That’s the thing with these types of games. The crowd may not be as big but the ones that do make it really dig down and make the atmosphere great.

Drive from Ankeny to Ames on 69 was not great, took I35 home and was fine till the Huxley exit then it was like the road from Huxley to Ankeny was not touched. Black Ice. Scooted along at about 20 to 30 mph all the way to Ankeny. But Heck was it worth it to see that one. Glad we went. Great crowd with weather and no students, got pretty loud at time and got the Juicy Wiggle twice and sweet Caroline at the end. Lot D-4 was a sheet of ice, maybe we could salt those donor lots next time, saw at least 4 people fall after the game in D4.

We were in C-4 and it was also very icy. When we walked in, I noticed it was salted in C-3. I told my wife that you must have to be at least Victory level to get a salted lot.

Yeah icy as **** and walk not even shoveled from the handicap lot. (It was shoveled sometime during the game as afterwards it was clearer) . You would think they would give those lots a little attention.

Before the game, I was concerned about the crowd, considering that the students weren’t back yet, but WOW, the “old” fans sure came thru! Looked and sounded awesome on TV! Kudos to all of the fans who ventured out on a difficult night of driving to support our Cyclones!

@dahliaclone unless you were talking trash pregame about how bad we are like some posters, nothing to apologize for, these are the kind of games we all hope for but never know when we are going to get them.

I sure am glad we won it made the drive back home more enjoyable, still was slow the last 25 miles or so but SO worth it.

Houston bigs missed shots late in the game that our bigs used to miss.

Houston is physical like West Virginia, but I didn't have the general dislike for their team like I do West Virginia. Maybe that will come with time, but last night was just a physical defensive game in my eyes. Iowa State match their toughness on defense and got the win. Great to see.

The diehards are the loud ones. I remember the Covid year for football. May have only been 12-13k of us for the OU game, but we overpowered the sound system.

Not that I didn't think we COULD win but I honestly thought we'd lose by about 15 tonight. This is a MASSIVE win.
Same. I'll go one further. Even when up 14-0 I gave us little chance to pull off the upset. It wasn't until the final minute that I truly believed. Shame on me.

Our defense was really good last night. Prior to this game many were questioning this teams ability to defend and even our defensive philosophy. Last night we played a great defensive team and our defense looked equally good.

I usually bet $1 on games. I bet $5 on UH to cover. I usually bet against ISU so that it softens the loss. I really wanted us to win but didn't think we would so I bet $5. It felt like ISU was going to lose and cover and break my heart twice. Best $5 loss I've ever had.

They did as good of a job in Lipsey as anybody does. He just couldn’t get anywhere he wanted to in the second half
