If ISU wins tomorrow...

It would be a long shot but teams like Texas and Texas Tech have struggled. Kansas is terrible. TCU isn't scary by any means. WV will fall apart by the time we play them. It is possible.

I think the biggest thing would be that most of those teams are in the second half of the season and the team will need to hang in there if they start 1-4 and need to win 5 of the last 7 when they get to the weaker part of the schedule.

If ISU can improve they could have a good Big 12 season bc Texas, Texas Tech, KU, TCU are all winnable games and maybe West Virginia but they have looked good this year. I'm not sold on OSU either. The Big 12 as a whole seems down this year.

I'm not sure how you draw this conclusion:

*Baylor and Oklahoma are CFB Playoff contenders
*WVU and OSU both played elite teams much more closely than anyone expected
*TCU and K-State both are wild cards but look good so far
*Texas Tech looks pretty bad. Texas just looks bad. Kansas is still Kansas.

I think there may be less parity in the Big 12, but that could end up being good for national perception. If Baylor/Oklahoma go 12-0/11-1 between them, and the middle of the pack (TCU/OSU/KSU/WVU) hold up respectably well, the Big 12 will probably appear to be better than it has been before, whether or not that is true

Beat Iowa and Toledo.
Beat KU and Tech
Win 2 of: Texas, TCU, WVU, and OSU.

If we do win our last 4, and we get a favorable bowl draw and win, and then we take care of OOC business next year (UNI, Iowa, Toledo) then we would be on an 8 game win streak to start conference play next year. Holy carp, I'm drinking the cool-aid this morning.

I'm not putting this ISU team as a bowl team...yet...but I do look at the schedule and think every game is winnable minus Baylor and Oklahoma.

My power rankings for the Big XII would look like this right now.

Tier 1: (No question here)
1) Baylor
2) Oklahoma

Tier 2: (I'm not sold on WVU or OSU yet. I think it's a big dropoff from tier 1.)
3) Kansas State
4) Oklahoma State
5) TCU
6) West Virginia

Tier 3:
7) Texas
8) Texas Tech

Tier 4:
9) ISU
10) KU

I think a win tomorrow would move us up to Tier 3, but I'm not predicting it. Still, our last 5 conference games would be against the bottom 5 in the Big XII. There's opportunity there for a great finish if we can keep improving.

ISU has a chance against Iowa, not because ISU is so good, but so far Iowa has been way short of impressive.

I see Toledo as a good chance at a win and Kansas. After that you have to hope that someone in the conference is struggling and the Clones can pick them off. Not impossible, but winning tomorrow would make it a lot more probable.

If ISU wins tomorrow, there is an incredibly nice silence in eastern iowa for about month.

Tech will not be a long shot. They just got by UTEP last week. Having grown up in EP, and a Miner fan, it was almost a seamless transition to becoming an ISU fan, with similar traditions and all. With that said, I still keep up with the Miners and watched that Tech game. If they (TT) don't make HUGE strides over the next several weeks, this game is no long shot for us.

I wish I shared the same hope for tomorrow as some...but I don't. Might be different at Trice but I don't see ISU leaving tomorrow with any trophy. Just keeping it real...or whatever.

Sorry to be so negative, but really ... we were horribly throttled by NDSU. Iowa is basically the same team but probably better. We had big plays against K-state and still were outgained 470 to 320. NDSU it was 500 to 250.

Drink the Kool-Aid if you want, but you better plan on cleaning the garage or something at the half. Ya'll are talking bowls? I'm hoping for a win against Toledo and see what happens after that.
