I-State hand gesture idea...

If ISU wants a hand gesture....the right hand needs to be curled into a "C" and the left hand needs to "Y" like in sign language (fist together but the thumb is sticking out as well as the pinky finger is out....) Then the left hand "Y" needs to be rotated back and forth like a "Cyclone" motion. Then, we have a "Cy" hand-gesture.

It would get popular if the Cheerleader girls start flashing up those "Cy" hand gestures....then everyone will catch on.

(then spin "Y" like a "cyclone")

Also, if we are going to get into traditional things here. When there is a home game at JTS....I really wish we had a cooler kick off. Right now the crowd just chants: "Ohhh" up until the kick then we stop. I say, continue with the "ohhh" and right after the kick we all chant CY - CLONES!!!!

Ex. Notre Dame.....their crowd chants the "ohhh" up until the kick....then when it's off...they yell I - RISH!!! It just sounds so cool. We should do that at ISU. Get some more flaver to the game day experience at JTS.

My other idea is this, when we stop an opponet on third down and we force them to punt, the band should play the "Wicked Witch of the West" music from The Wizard of Oz. That song is cool, very recognizeable and it features a Cyclone/Tornado....it would be a cool tradition to start up. Much like Michigan State does with the Rocky and Bullwinkle's Dudley Doo-right theme, they play it when they force a punt. It is very original by them in doing this. I believe right now we play some random "gladiator-type" of music that about 50 other teams already play. that is not very creative or original by us. I say play the WW of the West music....would be funny/cool and become tradition.

Just some ideas to inhance the gameday experience.

Wow, you put a lot of thought into this. Good ideas, but don't know if they would catch-on.
The Wizard of Oz music is good, but the Kansas teams would probably have the rights to that

I don't know, I thought the A-P tradition of the "4" was pretty darn cool and would be a nice tribute to Ed Thomas (if A-P was cool with this).

Not ripping on you or A-P but the "4" is not unique to A-P there are tons of high schools and other colleges across the nation that do that.

Go to any high school game or small college game and at least one team if not both will be flashing "4".

I have met multiple people that claim their school was the one that started "4" from different states.

Not going to debate if hand gestures are cool or not. I did think that your index finger raised in a twirling motion ( like a Cyclone) was kind of fitting.

That hand gesture would never catch on as it is too involved, but the other ideas are awesome. Have you found the proper outlet to email? It is obvious they try to make things tradition (see the article on the ISU official responsible for the music selection and Sweet Caroline).

and from FarminCy

My hand gesture is bringing a can of grain belt close to my face so I can drink it.

Just do the C from the first part, and bring it to your lips from the second part.

I'd like the thunder sticks. These would be great for sound which is hard to get at JTS. It would also be a good sight on TV.

I have one for anyone that thinks itd be a good idea. Take ur hand and put it in the shape of an L, go to the nearest mirror and hold ur gesture up to your forehead. Voila!

Not too keen on the hand gesture but the "wicked witch" thing seems a little interesting.

Since the mascot is a cardinal, how about some form of "the bird"? Extremely rude, I know, but anyone remember a wall poster captioned "The Last Great Act of Defiance"? You know, the one picturing small bird, or mammal, "giving the finger" to an eagle swooping down upon it? A lot like the way our football teams go down against a really good foe. Seems fitting.

Better yet, extend the middle finger on both hands and cross them in front of you. Yeah, the new ISU hand gesture, the "Crossed Bird.":biglaugh:

I think the most fitting hand gesture for us ISU fans is running the hand through the hair and dropping our heads in disgust. We've already got it down pat.

Hand gestures are gay. Don't believe me?? Look no further than TCU...or tech. Texas might be the ONLY exception because they are Texas and they do what they want.

I doubt that hand gestures have a sexual orientation... Watch what you say... that phrase is in bad form.

Witchita State actually does the shocker. I thought it was funny to see cheerleaders do it a Hilton a while ago. Little femail cheerleader doing the shocker while big male cheerleader lifts her in the air with his hand under her little skirt thing. Made me wonder.
