I despise Baylor

This is why they downsized their new gym. Baylor is not a big university in a metroplex. It's 14,000 students in a 100,000 population town.
But when you look at alumni the discrepancy isn't as great as you might think. While DFW is a little further away from Waco than Des Moines is from ISU, the alumni numbers are quite similar. There are about 29,000 ISU alumni in Polk County while there are 30,000 Baylor alumni in DFW.

I found nothing to dislike about last year's Baylor basketball team except their past. In fact, I see this year's ISU team being similar (we aren't that good but the style and personality is similar).

I agree. That team was really fun to watch. Reminded me a lot of the ISU team from 2000. Maybe without the flashiness of Tinsley or the scoring inside of Fizer, but the overall toughness and elite guard play. I always hope they suck, but they don't. This year's team is incredibly talented. I do think that they played one of their better games in Hilton. If they would have played us like they did OU last night, they would have walked out with an L.

Nothing but respect for what Drew has done, although he seems a little shady. And their FB hires have been amazing. I didn't care for Rhule, but Aranda is really good. I don't like the history of the school or the fanbase defending Briles, but you gotta respect what they've done on the field and court.

I have a hard time believing the number is this low.

Mulkey is a complete ass hole. I don't think that's a sexist term. She's a crappy person who happens to have a vagina. She's not a crappy person because of it.

I think it’s sexist to support her given the pro rape statements. The vast majority of humans of either sex manage to go a lifetime without public rape endorsements.

Yes, I should have rounded up, not truncated; and yes, this is from 2018. But it was close enough for the point being made.

Well that is an Iowa State Alumni Association graphic - they ought to know.

I'm sure that's their best guess and probably at least close to accurate, I'm just surprised it's not higher.

I'm seeing 36% of the county over age 25 has a college degree. 490k population, guessing 65% of that population is over 25...that'd be 115,000 college grads in the county. Maybe ISU being the school for 1 out of 4 is accurate. I'd have guessed closer to half but maybe it is only a quarter of college grads in DesMoines.

That is a shade over capacity as the Knapp Center, one would think they would have a 10k or more new arena after all their success?
Baylor fans obviously couldn't care less about basketball....which is amazing considering their women's and men's programs have recent titles. I get their students are on break, but I'd be surprised if their attendance against OU last night was above 6k...for the #1 team in the country, that is pathetic

I believe this. Over 30% of Iowa students are from Illinois and I'd guess that the percentage of them that stay in Iowa after graduation is pretty close to zero.

very true and also as many of us know, ISU has many alumni who are from Minnesota..and they often times end up moving back after they graduate..in my case I was from Iowa and moved to Minnesota after I graduated

I hate Baylor. But I think I hate K-state more. Their fans talk so much s***. Like congrats you beat an awful LSU team.

Just because I don't believe the worst possible scenario about Scott Drew or Dave Aranda doesn't mean I am not utterly disgusted with what happened at Baylor in the past.

Seriously...you should probably get some help about your Baylor hate. It's ugly. Pretty much every time there is a Baylor discussion, you pop in and start making accusations against people at Baylor without any supporting evidence, other than your "common sense"...it's flat out slander...and you start acting hostile towards anybody who disagrees with you. What is "moral" about any of that?
**** Baylor
