I come in peace

Although to most of you this will seem like nothing more than a lame attempt to thwart the criticism that 99% of you have directed at us I'm actually here to solicit your input to our show. Like us and you've made it loud and clear that most of you don't, we are going to begin at 4:00 on 6-12 and continue for the foreseeable future and I hope that you'll put down your weapons long enough to help us.
There is no doubt that Jeremy is miles ahead of Clark when it comes to breaking news and I have asked him to be our Cyclone insider on a weekly or if his schedule permits a twice weekly basis. I hope he'll agree to do it.I have contacted a former Cyclone football player with a similar request and if he agrees our show will be better for it.I'll never understand where the we hate the Cyclones comes from but it is what it is. Do I think the football team left victories on the field or do I feel that Morgan was the most overmatched coach since I've lived here, yep and I'm paid to say it. Most of you don't know this but along with my wife (and monkey she's anything but hideous) I'm currently paying for an Iowa State education and everything that goes with it.Summing up, tell us what you'd like to hear and although we'll never start the show by playing the fight song at least we'll take a look at the possibility.

Regards,
Ken Miller

Please Ken.....go back to your nag handicapping and your double whoopee nerd trifecta and leave the message boards to us basement dwellers who have nothing better to do (aside from J. Alba websites)

JCloned-

I respect that. Like I said, I don't have an experience listening to them so I can step back from it a little easier and form a new opinion. I know there are certain stations I would never give a second chance to that others may. It's all personal experiences and opinions and those are sometimes not repairable.

They ripped on the Clones to many times.. The bridge is burnt... No way to cross the river now... I don't want to discuss the Cyclones with people who know nothing about the Cyclones... At least Deace had some info on them... Ran a website dedicated to them... Spoke Hawkeye and know stuff about the Hawkeyes and we all knew his favorite team was Michigan...

Good for Deace= Drive time on KXNO horrible...

KGGO and Lazer just picked up a new drive time companion...

590 isn't bad in the afternoons. At 6:00 they have Big 12 Conference call that is a pretty good show. They cover about have of Iowa. (more than KXNO). I haven't called in but when Cyclone fans do they are well treated. If you want an afternoon sports show give it a try. I don't recommend the AM as it is not a sports show.

"can't we all get along" - might as well be Miller's mantra now that his livelyhood depends on rating and retention of advertisment. Isn't interesting how in the not too-distant past these two smarmy queens were making light of Deace in relation to him being fired from the JOCK on their old show....now they have him to thank for their ability to make some coin again in this market.

I say repel these two turds from boarding this site and get to more vital issues plaguing ISU nation...like further discussion of the son of Christ that is Tate...

Wow. I guess I don't know what to say about this post. While I don't expect you to be a technical writer, I do expect - if you want to be taken seriously - you to have a well-organized and coherent point to make. This is especially important if your goal is to connect with a fanbase that you perceive to be skeptical of you, but still has the potential to make-up a large part of your audience. You say you want input, but it just didn't appear like a genuine request to me. You have a long history of broadcasting in this market, so people do have something to base their judgements on; yet you imply that you've been unfairly judged. The "we're here, like it or not" attitude comes across pretty loud and clear. To make matters worse, you essentially badmouth a guy (Clark) that, to my knowledge, has done absolutely nothing to you. This was completely uncalled for and unprofessional. As a Cyclone fan I have no problem what-so-ever with a sports-talk personality sharing his opinions - positive or negative - on their show. As you correctly pointed out, it is what you're paid to do. Where the problems start for me is when those opinions aren't well-informed, or otherwise completely thought-out and are instead based on the old bias Clone fans have to deal with in this state wherever we go. The bottom line is if Cyclone fans don't feel they will get a fair shake from you they will, undoubtedly, be voting with their radio presets.

Sorry, I can't see supporting a show that pretty much relies on pissing people off to get them to call in. Try decent guests and topics...like Deace did. Instead, Marty will go off trying to make fans (ISU mostly) mad and call KXNO all pissed off. BTW, no one in Central Iowa cares about the Red Sox and very few care about horse racing (especially outside of the triple crown).

Unless something else is made available to us Clone fans, I'll give KXNO a shot for a week. If it's the same old crap from Jon Miller and the same old crap from Marty and Miller, you can be sure I'll have a quick trigger finger...and I'll also make note of the sponsors to be sure I don't support them either.

The more I read this thread and re-read your initial post Ken, it appears you've done more harm than good in what you said.

I agree with what Jeremy said - have Paul or Chris do MORE radio interviews.

Miller,

You fired the first volley....but i would have to say you have gained nothing but hate pie back in the face...I will be waiting for your next Camp David peace letter over at Cy Nation

I think it would be somewhat interesting if we could get something setup where posters here can either send requests or questions to Marty & Miller (or any other station/host) and see what happens. I think a lot has changed, not only in central Iowa, but in the whole modernization of talk-radio. There isn't enough control by the normal listener to the actual content. Radio is too much like having the internet that only allows you to see one page and only whatever somebody posts on that page.

It might be interesting if people can send in interview requests/ideas as well as questions and debate material. I think you are seeing how eager ISU fans are for a fair shake in the local media. I think everybody here would agree that they are very much tired of the DM Rag and other outlets always bashing the Clones and running with any hint of a scandal at ISU while not touching anything bad at Iowa.

Cyclone fans are waking up to the old style of reporting that still exists in the state and are demanding a new format and a new voice. That is why this site has been so successful. We demand to be heard and it's working:)

Now, that doesn't mean that anybody is listening, yet.

Now I don't know Ken personally nor professionaly but I would assume he is getting the general feeling towards the show and how things are likely to start out. The question is, will Marty, Ken, and KXNO listen and provide the Cyclone faithful what they want? Only time and raitings will tell. Ultimately, people will tune in if they feel is is worth it.

NO offense Jeremy,, You run a good site.. I would not attach my name to these two guys... It cheapens (SP) your name... These guys have done the damage.. You can't come to us now and try and get us to buy a new product...

Note to the advertisers... I will not listen to old crap.. Hear that travis audio and the rest of the people who advertise...

I concur with cyclonedrew. I am just starting to get addicted to this site at the same level I am with CN.

Please don't ruin it by "shacking up" with former Cyclone bashers now turned "supporters" who come in "peace" while at the same time putting down one of our very own Cyclones.

"Paul Clark is one of the greatest Cyclones to never suit up. "

Jeremy, I love this site, I love coming here. But many of us come here for different reasons, some of us are here because we dont want to be other places.

That statement by you is laughable. Great Cyclones don't charge me for a newspaper and then don't deliver on it, and I am still out my money. Perhaps he is just following in the footsteps of CI Steve on that front, that is the legacy of iowastate.rivals.com. And that is why I am here.

Hi, Paul Clark here. I understand where you are coming from. Unfortunately, the paid newspaper isn't going to fly as a viable complement to CycloneReport.com. Everyone that has paid for a subscription will get a refund for the unfulfilled portion. It is a process that is underway and will take some time. I will get to everyone, no exceptions. I've addressed this on my message boards and apologize for not communicating effectively enough with you on it. But I am making good and will continue to do so until the task is done and everything is zeroed out.

I understand people are here for many reasons and respect each person's reason. I think Paul covered that reason pretty well though and will let him speak for himself from now on. I just wanted to make sure he was getting a fair deal on this thread by all members. I respect Paul and am not asking others to change any of their current opinions on him or anybody else. Everybody has their own opinion and that is why forums exist.

This whole playing innocent thing is honestly insulting. Obviously urbclone threw out some of the things we don't like about Tirrell, did you just have no idea he said these things or felt this way about ISU?

Nobody will care if you say that you thought Morgan was overmatched or that McCarney has let seasons slip through his fingers. I would say that you would be hard pressed to get a majority of us to disagree with you on this. To suggest this is why we might be opposed to your duo taking over doesn't take in to account the fact that we have prior knowledge of things said in the past. If anything, this thread made us all well aware of it.

Undoubtedly Deace pandered to his audience and played to ISU a lot when he started CycloneNation. No one was confused as to where his allegiences really lied though, and that was to Michigan and the almighty dollar. He didn't start CycloneNation because he loved the Clones. He started it to make bank, end of story. Also, you take a jab at Paul Clark, who is a true Cyclone lover, and that isn't a way to endear yourself to fans buddy. There is no quicker way to unite people against you than to attack one of their own.

I still don't have a problem with you, and I doubt anybody really does here. I've always gotten the impression that you really don't care about ISU or Iowa, and in fact I would perfer it that way. I felt like Deace was in that same boat and that is what appealed to me about him. He really doesn't have a vested interest in Iowa or ISU, so in covering them he maintained somewhat objective.

The problem we have with KXNO now isn't that we don't necessarily like Tirrell or Jon Miller (although many of us don't), it's that there is no objectivity left. We're beset with Hawk fans on all sides. And as I said before, the quickest way to unite people is to put them under seige from a shared enemy. I'm hoping this news about Cyclone media representation is pretty good, because right now, Tirrell, Jon Miller, and KXNO have formed what our esteemed president has coined an "axis of evil".

Cylyte,

You and I agree on almost nothing else, but we are in lockstep on this one. It is one thing to argue among family, it is quite another to have an enemy attacking us. Tirrell and Jon Miller are clearly anti-ISU and make no bones about. Our choice as consumers is to change the station on our radio and that is exactly what I plan to do. [/b][/quote]

I have not done anything but read the SUPER INFO on this web-site, so this is my first comments on this site.

I live in North Central Iowa so I don't get to listen to KXNO or DEASE very often. I think he has tried to

be a CYCLONE guy but he is from BIG 10 country!!!!! I think, he has MILLER, a HAWKEYE guy, do his

CYCLONE show when he is gone. Sometimes it seems to me that there is as much HAWK talk as there is CYCLONE info on the FLAG SHIP of CYCLONE sports. WHY???? AND now a the guy who runs HAWK NATION on the web is going to run the local sports show on the FLAG SHIP of CYCLONE SPORTS??

I think I have an idea what some CYCLONE fans think, but I know I won't listen to the show, PERIOD.

A CYCLONE radio show needs PAUL CLARK ?? JEREMY??? and JOHN WALTERS.

I don't know what station needs to flag ship this, but leave the Hawkeye people OUT!!!!!!!!!!!! We need ISU

people running ISU sports radio. A CYCLONE Sports show needs ISU poeple who bleed RED, not

black and gold running the show. Mr. Miller, would HAWKEYE fans go along with CLARK running a HAWK

talk show on WHO ??? If you answer this yes, you are no HAWK fan, just someone tring to make a $. I I think our AD has the right idea in kicking KXNO out the door, and bring ISU sports back to ISU

friendly people. I have the feeling he is saying, GET ON THE WAGON OR GET OUT OF THE WAY!!!

I think Bryce hit it on the head with a fair analysis. Deace was a nice host because you knew he wasn't going to sugar coat it or censor it to please ISU fans, nor was he going to do that for Iowa. He could say it as it was without leaning one way or another. He has taken some criticism in the past and he has owned up to it for the most part.

If some of the things in this thread are true about the past shows for M&M, I'm starting to wonder what would change now. I know I said the landscape has changed but if the blood is that bad between the host and the fans, there isn't much chance of it improving too offly much.

I personally am wanting to remind people that KXNO isn't the Cyclone station. It may be the one that covers the games but it is in no way the flagship in my opinion. I think a flagship (leader) has to have some relationship to the other ships in the fleet (the fans) in order to be able to be the quote "flagship". That's like calling Yahoo Sports a flagship because you can hear the games on there (I know a little bit of a stretch).

One thing to remember is that there will be exciting news relating to ISU radio coverage over the next week. I think everybody will forget about this story and it's miniscule impact when all is said and done. KXNO will not be the flagship station going forward, officially or unofficially, that much will be certainly clear.
