HyVee fuel saver card

Being in Columbus for 2+ years now, I have liked Giant Eagle because the one right near me is MASSIVE and offers tons of crazy amenities, but it seems more expensive than Kroger (I can't remember Hy-Vee prices to compare to) and there have been a number of times that I can't find items I know exist from my days working at Hy-Vee through high school and college. This could also just be those items are not made/distributed here though.

I have some quibbles with Kroger back when I used to live in Alabama. But there are many items that Giant Eagle has that Hy-Vee doesn't and Hy-Vee has and Giant Eagle doesn't. Just different demographics. Try finding pierogies in a Hy-Vee lol.

They actually carry Mrs. T's pierogies at Hy-Vee.

The one thing that I absolutely cannot find and it is really the end of the world to me, is Jack's Rising Crust frozen pizza. All the stores here have the thin crust but no Rising Crust. What gives?!?!

To close to New York in Colombus I guess!

While I have a fuel saver card and always shop at Hy Vee, the program just doesn't work for me. I bet I drop $1000/mo at the Ankeny Hy Vee, and I rarely get any kind of fuel saver discount. I buy what I buy, and that's it.

The irony is that Hy Vee, the sponsor of the Triathlon and Drake Road races, and keepers of a decent Health Market seem intent on killing their customers with fuel saver promotions of crappy pizza, bacon, chips, and pop. And by god when I finally found something I thought would qualify, it didn't because the promotion was only on some gargantuan box size. Oh you have the 18.7 oz box, the discount is only on the 32.71 oz box! Ha ha! Sorry!

So not only do you have to know what products are on for that week (they are very spotty at marking them in the Ankeny Hy Vee), you have to read the fine print to make sure you're getting the right quantity/size. Pretty annoying. If there was a Kroger's around here I'd definitely be shopping there instead.
