Hurricane force winds are supposed to reach Orlando. Would assume Disney would close unless they bill it as a thrill ride.
At least 108 dead in Haiti. So very sad.
Disney is closing early today and will be closed tomorrow. Only the fourth time in history.
Work with a guy who lives in Orlando (here on temporary assignment). Brought his family here to ride it out. Obviously they're on edge.
I'll go with an Obama-Bush-Right Wing Radio-Left Wing Media combination for causing it.
Just got word from the area we help in Chantel, Haiti. Most buildings are destroyed. School in the mountains that we recently funded to build is still standing, but roof is gone. 7 of the 11 mountain chapels we are associated with are destroyed.
That's terrible. From looking at news reports, it doesn't look like they ever recovered from the earthquake. I'm curious if the aid dried up, wasn't enough or was used poorly. Seems like the main benefit in places like that gets siphoned off through corruption to those who don't need it most.
That is heartbreaking. One of my boys (yes another one) is friends with a kid from Haiti who was orphaned and adopted by a local family who went there on a missionary trip. He has siblings and cousins in Haiti and has to be terrified for them.
We are twinned with a church in Chantel. The Monsignor that oversees these 11 chapels is very hands on. He sends us a list of projects that he would like to see done and when we send a group over we go see what he wants done and then send funds to complete the projects.
So far we built a school, expanded the school in Chantel, solar panels for the school, a water filteration project in a mountain village. We are currently working on building another church in a mountain community. We also pay salaries of teachers in Chantel. Recently we built a peanut shelling mill.

The list is never ending and now we have to go back to the basics and help them get some hope back.

A lot of morons not wanting to evacuate. They don't know what 135 mph winds will do. I love how some are tweeting down there that it isn't bad and media is blowing out of porportion. Nevermind the fact they don't understand it gets worse as the eye gets closer.
Seriously. It's mind boggling how dumb people are. That's a high end EF2 tornado, several miles wide, up most of the coast of Florida.
There will be widespread areas uninhabitable for weeks after this. Not only due to the wind, but storm surge and flooding rains. This is the real deal folks.
This is very true for a lot of the area that will be impacted. Jacksonville, for example, has not seen a storm like this is close to 120 years. There is simply zero local knowledge of a storm close to this magnitude, and this one has the potential to change the Florida coast line.
If you have DirecTv channel 205- which normally is the Sports Mix station is now the Weather Mix station probably for the next day or 2. Pretty neat to watch all the hurricane coverage on one channel. Channel 361-2 is mostly local coverage from Florida tv stations..... Ill be watching this channel all night!
