“To be honest with you” drives me a little crazy for what I believe are obvious reasons. Matt Campbell can say whatever the f**k he wants though.
He's the most coach-speak coach I think I've ever heard. Can't complain one bit when you do what CMC does, though.

What I love about Hunter is that they said he competes on both ends and even challenged Holmgren at the rim at a couple of times. Shows he has no fear and is a dog. Love that kind of personality at PG.

SI All-American Player of the Year Chet Holmgren surpassed the hype in his 2021 finale.
There's no small chance he's immediately our best player.
For a year where we are essentially forced to rely on a Freshman point guard, I'd say we've done about as good as we could have for getting the best one available. At this point, if he struggles some out there, it likely will be solely because he is a freshman rather than because we chose the wrong one.
I am starting to wonder if 24/7 and Rivals seriously underrated Hunter.
Yes, but Bonzi Wells called him “Gameface”. Clearly needs some tutoring in that area from Tyrese the First.

In the latest CW and Blum Pod, CW revealed a tidbit of Tyrese's recruiting. It turns out Tyrese's big brother Brian Hunter Jr. (at least 16 years older than Tyrese) is a buddy of the former Cyclone Antwon Oliver who redshirted at ISU in the 2009-2010 season and then left. So his brother called Oliver asking about TJ and Oliver vouched for him. It's clear TJ didn't "burn the bridge" when Oliver left the program and this over-a-decade relationship has paid its dividend to reinforce Tyrese's commitment. Good job TJ! We can all learn something from this story.
The following information is drawn from an article in Milwaukee Journal Sentinel with minor editing.
Since 2000, at least 14 players from Wisconsin have been part of the Cyclones program. Most notable is 2018 Oshkosh North graduate Tyrese Haliburton, who is currently playing for the Sacramento Kings in the NBA.
Matt Thomas of Onalaska also attended Iowa State before eventually transitioning to the NBA, where he plays with the Utah Jazz.
Notable southeastern Wisconsin players to commit to Iowa State in recent memory include Terrence Lewis (Milwaukee Riverside), Elgin Cook (Milwaukee Hamilton), Diante Garrett (Milwaukee Vincent), Calvin Godfrey (Milwaukee Custer) and Antwon Oliver (Racine Horlick).
Deonte Burton (Vincent), Korie Lucious (Pius XI) and Darrell Bowie (Wauwatosa East) all eventually transferred to Iowa State from other NCAA Division I programs.
TJ and ISU coaching staff, please keep that Wisconsin pipeline running smooth.

“Hunter had a strong week, winning co-MVP honors in the game. After being ranked outside the top 100 for most of his high school career, Hunter has come on strong over the past year and is now knocking on the door of five-star status. His quickness and overall shiftiness with the ball will draw immediate intrigue the moment he lands in college. His burst accelerating out of the pick-and-roll is difficult to find when paired with the body control and scoring instincts he displays. He has a good looking jump shot and some versatility as a shot-maker, making a variety of difficult pull-ups over the course of the week. To reach his full potential, Hunter will need to continue to work on his decision-making and playmaking. He has a tendency to over dribble at times when his initial move is cut off and is prone to settling for wild shots at the rim or beyond the arc, which isn't ideal considering he only stands around 6-1 and isn't blessed with great length. Hunter, who doesn't turn 18 until mid-August, is the same age as many high school juniors, giving him time to iron out his weaknesses at Iowa State, where he will surely be a focal point of the offense for new head coach T.J. Otzelberger.”

It's The Answer's event, why the hell didn't they put him between the two MVP winners for the photo op?
They have Keegan Murray going #25 to the Knicks.
Givony is the best in the biz. He knows what he is talking about. Doesn't mean it will work out that way because he has to continue to improve but I can see him being picked there if he does.
